Mark Bass Ohm question

I looked around the faqs at the top of this forum, but I couldn’t find an answer. I was hoping someone can answer this for me. I have a Mark Bass Little Mark II and a
Mark Bass TRV102P-4ohm cab. If I want to add another cabinet (15”), does it need to be 4 ohm or can it be an 8 ohm cab?

I believe your Little Mark is only capable of driving loads down to 4 ohms. Since you have that already in your 4 ohm cab, you can't add another cab. If you added another 4 ohm cab, the amp would see 2 ohms. If you added an 8 ohm cab, the amp would see 2.7 ohms. In both these cases you'd be exceeding the limits of your Little Mark.

Neither. You’ve got a 4 ohm speaker so that’s all you’re using. Can’t add cabs.

If your 102P is 4 ohm, you're all done. That is you cannot add anything else lest you dip below the 4 ohm minimum of the LittleMark.

If you want to run 2 cabs, you have to get 2 x 8 ohm cabs.

with ohms, 8+8= 4

I hate to disagree with everyone, but sure you can. You'd just have to wire the second cab in series instead of parallel.

Your amp is rated at: 300W RMS @ 8 ohm, 500W RMS @ 4 ohm

The amp would see 8ohm with two 4ohm series wired cabs. 8ohm is a higher impedance/lower load (less power). So you'll be fine. Shouldn't be that hard to do.

Seems like a senseless road to go down. Use 2 cabs and not realize the headroom of the amp? Better he offs the 4 ohm cab and buys two 8ohm units.
