I recently bought one of these on the cheap to use as the base for a fretless build (yeah that's right 3234718, that's where your ESP neck was headed).
I don't understand why everyone jumps so quickly to "no tone control is too limiting". Add just one capacitor and a couple drops of solder and now it has a tone knob (instead of volume). Or add another pot to that and now it's standard P-bass wiring...that's under $5 in parts and 15 minutes of labor.
