Double Bass MarkBass 800 Tube ***?

This amp has a xlr input. It's powerful. It's tube. Yet nobody is talking about it. The more I explore amplification the more I see that there is a lot out there. What would keep me, or anyone, from running a Headway Pre with my AMT + Gage pick up, into this with a ACME B1 or Thunderchild and just kick ass? Does anyone have this combo? What about a Aguilar ToneHammer 500? I've got the QSC K10 which I think is cool but not quite enough for a full drum kit gig.

I have the LittleMark III and use the ART Tube PreAmp and run it though the 112 Ampeg Classic and it really kicks... I use it with my electric AND my upright and they both sound great.

If i could afford the 800 I probably would have gotten that.

Have you tried powering the AMT with the Headway EDB-1? I tried it once and I don't think it would work with out the AMT's dedicated power supply. Man that's a lot of boxes between the source and the amp. There's also one other problem that may occur.
David Gage sells a cable that attenuates the signal from the Realist. I think we've had this discussion before and you have that cord? Otherwise, the Realist will overload the Headway EDB-1. I'm currently using the Thunderchild 112 as my go to speaker. I'd sure want to try that combination before I gigged it out as the TC 112 has a very wide off axis dispersion, so the AMT will probably feed back pretty quick it the mic can "see the cabinet" as Chris puts it.

I wasn't totally clear there, thank you Mr. Redwine. I currently run a Headway into my AMT box into a K10. In the case of the Markbass I would run the mic into the xlr channel and the 1/4" with pick up into the other channel. That alone may be overkill. This would then go to some high end cab. What I like about this rig is the option to use a mic in some capacity. I know that mics in amps don't usually do the trick alone but it might be nice to blend it in a bit for lower volume gigs. I love the tube aspect of this amp as I think I'm just a tube guy deep down.

Very interested about that amp also. Dpa and or FC into Headway into AI Clarus return to M line 12. Usually send Dpa to the amp channel since it has Phantom. If foh is involved, reverse that. Always looking for new alternatives to better sound possibilities...

I use a Markbass Tube head and a TC Electronics 2/12 cab on big doubling stage/outdoor gigs. I do not use a Headway but I do put my Fishman Plat Pre in the XLR, powering via Markbass phantom, and run my Fender Jazz in ch.2. I'm not a true jazz guy (disclaimer) but for the Americana stuff (not just grass) it works really great and is plenty loud with drums, keys, and other amplified instruments. I own the lesser head (not 800) and it's plenty powerful for outdoor gigs at <6 on the main volume knob. Hope that helps!
