Double Bass Markbass AC101 vs Acoustic Image Coda

Hi,

I'm looking for a small (yet adequate) combo amp for DB.
I own a 7/8 fully curved Christopher bass with a Realist pickup.
We play mainly jazz with quartet and trio (including drums).
The amp will be used in both rehearsals and gigs.
Since I love my bass' sound without amp,
I'm looking for a natural sound with no coloring (I think so).

For large gigs I might get another cabinet to add on the combo.

I have not yet heard my bass with a decent amp so I 've been reading a lot here in talkbass about amps for DBs.

I have narrowed my results to

a) Acoustic Image Coda (or contra) combo
b) Markbass AC101 combo
never heard any of those two.

Would you please comment on these two amps.
I live in Europe so getting Markbass will not be a problem.

Will there be any problem with realist and either these two amps
input channel?

i never played one of them.
but: i played a markbass top and a mikromark with teh realist (old and new version) and had no impedance problems.
hope that helps a little.

I owned both but not at the same time. Both are very fine and nuetral - just what you want for DB. The AI will be a little warmer sounding, the AC101 will 'seem' to play louder with less effort.

Do I really have any other options for DB?

EA could also be another solution but I haven't located any dealer in Europe. Also GK MB150 but most people here prefer the AI or the EA instead of the GK.

Eventually I'm more into the AI solution since most of the people are satisfied with it. The downfiring woofer might be a problem but from what I've read so far it looks very promising.

I think the best bets from what's commonly available are EA, AI and Markacoustic. These companies represent a broad range of lightweight solutions. All are winners and seem to be the cutting edge of design.

If it makes you feel any better, I love the downfiring speaker and wouldn't go back to a front facing one now if you paid me.

My GK MB150E has given me a sound true enough to my acoustic sound, so I've had no problem with it in all the years I've played through it. That's just my experience though.
