Markbass CMD 121. WOW!

There's still about an inch and a half of grill below it. Why didn't they mount it down to the bottom edge where it wouldn't block the driver almost at all?!?

Fixed. This is the way it should be. It's not really adhesive tape, just some kind of...."gunk". Doesn't leave a residue and is pliable enough to restick just by pressing it back on. Took a little prying to get it unstuck to move though.

Would have posted earlier, but my digital camera's charger died.

yeah, i couldn't agree with your assessment of the 12" markbass more. i am using the new york 121 in combination with the little mark tube head, which itself too is a dream.

i started playing with some new people a few weeks back. i was playing in the practice studio when the guitarist walked in. he started looking around for my amp, thinking it was an 8 x 10 marshall stack or something!! he then said WHAT? you are playing through THAT little thing??!!

oh my god, it was so funny. another guitarist sold on the benefits of markbass! it is the best in my view.

man good call!!Im a genz guy to the end but have played some markbass (cmd 121 also).Like you said OP...the highs are litterally delicious!!Crisp like a piano to me.lovee that!!

But wont lie-I found the TWO markbass rigs I have tried didnt impess me that much sheer volume wise.I found them both frapping kinda quick it seemed.Lots factors to that but regardless the tone was unreal!!Yum!

I've used mine as a head only on a couple medium loud gigs now. The cab I use is a Tech Soundsystems 2x12 (It's the design Schroeder copied) that is already 4 ohms so I disconnect the internal Markbass 12.

What I do is lay the CMD 121 on it's front on top of the cab. This works out great as the CMD 121 cab now is acting as a rack, you don't see the inactive 12, and the controls are all now facing forward. Cool beans.

Did you try the higher powered rigs (800 or more watts)?
Some of these (if not all) have digital power sections as compared to the 500 watter's analog power section. Many have said they don't like the tone as much on the digital heads.:hmm:

Continually amazed by this little thing. I play jazz mostly, which this amp is perfect for. For kicks I occasionally do a metal or rock gig.
Below is a pic of a gig I played in a crappy public youth centre with horrid acoustics. Each guitarist had a 4X12 stack, and the drummer was quite a heavy hitter. Unable to get my hands on anything more powerful, I put the markbass to the test... and it kept up! I drove it to about full with some PA support (the PA speakers had very tame low end, so all the 'booty' was coming from the MB). and the limiter was working pretty hard, but you can still hear the bass. Check this out:

Here by the way is my thread from a few months ago about removing the head from a Markbass cab. I did this with my Jeff Berlin 151P to be able to use both the LM II and LM Tube in combination with 2 x 15" cabs (Jeff Berlin + New York 151).

Yes it voids the warranty, but fundamentally, I trust the Markbass quality. I have had zero issues since removing the head several months back.

I no longer have the 4 x 10, since I really wanted 2 x 15, but it makes no difference what you're hooking the removed head to, works fine with either combination for me... always assuming ohmage is correct of course, which it was / is in my case. Just in case anyone is really paying attention (!), there are no inconsistencies in my story... I have 2 x 15 Markbass cabs and the LMII at my home in Switzerland... and the LM Tube and my NY121 in Australia where I am living/working for a few months... total Markbass fanatic!!)

Guys I almost got a 1x12 combo...Sounds like its a great amp.I ended up with a MARKBASS little mark tube 800 and a 2x10 MB cab,Iam now saving for my 1x15 or a 4x10 or a 2nd 2x10 but anyways All I can say is wow its an awsome amp and sound.......I play Blues as well as Jazz and it gets the job done....
