Markbass CMD 121p in an IEM live situation

Hello,

I play bass for a worship team, and for most of the last few years my setup has been:

Ibanez fretless > Tech 21 VT Bass > house and to my QSC K 12 powered monitor.
House > IEMs > headphones


My goals are simple:
- Hear everything in the mix
- Feel the bass
- Easy, mobile setup
- Have good tone

I'm not satisfied that my rig is as simple and light as it could be. I'm not a kid, and at 40+ lbs, I'm wondering if I should get something easier to carry than the QSC K12 to shake me and the floor so I feel the bass.

I'm considering the Markbass 121p to replace everything, including the VT Bass. Any thoughts?

The MarkBass is still really portable and sounds awesome. It's incredibly loud for it's size. It would be my first choice. In fact, I have one.

Thanks, I had not heard of these. I'm assuming any of these amps would be enough to shake me and the wood floor on stage.

Try out a T.C. Electronics BG250. That, my basses, a tuner, and my IEM setup is all I ever carry on a gig. The amp weighs in at around 39 lbs. It has more than enough power to cover every stage I play (let the PA handle FOH)

I'm not sure as I've never played through them. There are also a couple GK combos that fit the criteria. One thing they have in common is that they're a good chunk more inexpensive than the Markbass. I do like the Markbass and own two!

BTW, I'm kinda' surprised no one mentioned the ButtKicker or the Pleasure Board. Both items exist to shake the musician.

i use one of these too, and they are great!!!!!! i have used it in a metal band and it kept up very well!!!

Keep the VT. Run it into the MB. Put the MB on a stand. It will crank plenty assuming the FOH is good. I believe you will be happy with the sound.

The CMD121p is a very nice amp that can cover a lot of ground with the filters. The D.I. Can be pre or post EQ and turning up the master doesn't change the DI output. I use a Sansamp as well, but not with the Markbass (The Sansamp is used when a good pa support -subs- with monitoring is available, and I don't have to carry a amp). If I use a amp, I go just with the Markbass and use the DI; and the amp is the monitor -- cheap monitors don't work well with bass! Unless you play at the same location all the time, you will need to have several options available because every room, PA and soundman is different! I love the Markbass....but I keep the Sansamp in the guitar case too!

I re-read your post and see you are playing in a worship team with IEM's. When I play at church with IEM's...I go simple....Sansamp to house....but the secrete is investing in good IEM's! This is a must! I want to hear how the bass sounds going through the system...not just on stage.
