Markbass Little AG seems noisy, does anyone have the same problem?

I just bought a B-Stock Markbass Little AG 1000 (the older version with the metal casing) for a very good price. It's basically new, however there's a hiss/hum coming out of my Markbass New York 121 cab's twitter, sort of a white noise one. It isn't super loud, but I'm used to Markbass amps being pretty silent. The sound is affected by eq. I keep the gain at 9 o'clock normally but if I turn it up, the hiss goes up considerably. However I can "hide it" by turning the twiter level down on the cab.

Any similar experiences? Or is my B-stock amp faulty?

There is some of it, which changes depending on my gain level, however it's louder once I turn my bass volume up. Even on mute can be heard slightly. The bass-less amp noise wont be a problem live, however the plugged in bass might. Never had any problems with this bass before, whether using other amps or D.I.

well, markbass amps are pretty bright and this one doesn't have a 'old school' control.
the part of the white noise that goes away when you turn off your bass -- it's your bass.

the part that doesn't -- well, every amp has a floor noise and this is a 1000W one, so at quiet levels might not have an optimal noise level.
set the gain right for optimal s/n ratio (like just before clipping) and then adjust the volume.

also be sure you don't confuse amp's fan with its' floor noise, on quiet/modest volume levels the first one could be more heard.
at least, that's the case with my LM IV. yeah, it also sounds kinda like a white noise.

That makes sense, the 1000w might be amplifying noise that other amps couldn't pick up. I was a bit suspicious about it since I got it at a very good price. I guess I'll have to wait until I play live to see how noticeable it is.

I had something similar, i wanted the 600W model of a different model, the store was sold out so just shipped me the 1000W one which is complete overkill but sure, i got it for the same price.

It didn't take a speaker cable only XLR and when i plugged it into my cab it was giving a ton of whitenoise. I had to turn down my cabs tweeter and it went away. Not sure if maybe your tweeter is what might fix it for you too

It didn't take a speaker cable only XLR and when i plugged it into my cab it was giving a ton of whitenoise. I had to turn down my cabs tweeter and it went away. Not sure if maybe your tweeter is what might fix it for you too

I think Markbass amps, but particularly the ones that have tweeters that you don’t have turned off or down emphasize a bit of a hiss that the amp has. I have an Andrew Gouché and used to have the MB102pure combo. The headache, the 102p combo had a tweater that you cannot turn off and the crossover frequency seems to be right where that hiss is, so you can hear it easily. Gouche still has the noise floor, it’s moderate but since there’s no tweater, it’s less emphasized.

Sorry not XLR, i was trying to remember what it was called lol. I meant Speakon cable.

My little mark 2 and the 600W version i was going to originally buy looked like this:

So the option for both a quarter inch speaker cable or the speakon, the 1000W they sent to me for the same price has the quarter inch speaker cable capped off. I was using a quarter inch cable ahead of replacing it with the new one so i had to go out and buy a speakon so i assume either that change or the higher overall wattage was giving me the slight white noise because i never got it before:

No 1/4” jacks for updated safety regulatory reasons.

You should use a proper SpeakOn cable.

1) It's classified B-stock. 2) The seller made an unauthorized substitution.

Maybe I read too much Mencken, Bierce, and Twain, but I think they were (or are, if the return window is still open) looking for a sucker.

Don't be that sucker. Send that thing back and don't ever shop there again.
