poweramp is the same, present circuitry sportin' much warmer ('70ish?) midrange in place of all out distortion;)

Yes but I think they discontinued it. I don’t know why. That was a great idea to get a little bit crunch out of a Markbass.

Fell in love with this too. Paired it with a MB Ninja 212 and it sounds awesome. Lots of bottom, no mud, nice dirt when you want it, plenty of head room for my five-piece band, and good controls to go from modern to vintage tube and points in between. Plus, it's a light-weight rig that will cover all but the largest of venues I play. I was pretty convinced originally that I'd go with an Ampeg rig, as I have for years. But when I played the new LM Vintage, all that changed. Just love the tone.

Tried one today while I was at GC for something else.
Even though it was plugged into one of my least favorite MB cabs (the NY121),
I absolutely loved the tone (flat setting). I'm a Markbass guy that has three of their amps,
owned a bunch more and, until recently, was using their cabs also.
This Amp is definitely on my list to get.

Yeah.
Strangely, there wasn't really any fanfare for this one.
I started seeing them on eBay and wondered "whats that?".

Strange he had the limiter maxed during that whole demo.
I use mild compression at all times and found a little went a long way.

I owned one that I paired with a Markbass Traveler 2x10. I ended up returning it and going with the Gallien-Krueger MB212-II instead for the added volume/convenience, but it was one of the greatest tones I've ever heard. I highly recommend it.

Does "maxed" in this case mean "little-to-no compression" or "maximum clamp"? Was thinking the former, actually (disengaged or close to it), but I could be wrong.

The limiter knob in the video is clearly all the way clockwise for maximum compression/limiting.
I didn't mess with it much, but there was nothing that seemed to indicate it worked (non-intuitively) backwards.

You might. You have to hear it, of course. I compared this head to Ampegs and like the tone better. There are three pre-set settings: Flat, Cut and Old. The Cut setting scoops mids and enhances lows. To my ears, this is most like an SVT and with the EQ, you can get pretty close, but I think still a bit different than an SVT. Not bad, just different. My band mate who plays lead guitar said this about the differences between Ampegs and this MB: "They all sound really good. There are no bad sounds. It's really what you personally prefer." I think that's right. An other consideration was weight and schlepping equipment. Coupled with an MB cab, its a lot lighter than most of the Ampegs I looked at, which was a big plus for me.

MB just announced a second vintage LM amp. It has different controls, including the ability to select EQ frequencies. This may get you closer to the SVT tone, so would be worth checking out, but I haven't tried that amp.

D'oh - in my sleepy, late night listen, I missed some stuff, apparently. Same in my post - forgot that you'd actually tried the head. Apologies.

I need to go back and give the clip a real listen.

Recently bought one but noticed a hiss from my Marcus Miller 102 cab as soon as I turned it on with everything turned to zero. Is this normal? Tone is fantastic and couldn’t ask for more but that hiss is annoying. Tried two different speakon cables too.

Mine is dead quiet. I run it with the MB Ninja 212 (8 ohm). The only time I get a very small amount of hiss is when I add a compression pedal, which has always introduced a negligible amount of noise. When I was auditioning different speakers, I tried the MM 102 cab. I didn't get audible hiss with that or any of the several cabs I tried.

My band's guitarist and I were trying out a few pedals in his recording studio a few weeks ago with my rig. He remarked about how quiet the amp is.

I assume you have tried lifting the ground (switch located back of amp)? That may help. If not, I'd ask for a replacement.
