Markbass LMII Fan Problem

I just got a new LM2 today and while I was on lunch I played it for about 5 minutes and I noticed the fan had kicked on. Well, I had to hurry back to work so didn't really pay any attention to it.

When I got home I immediately ran over to my shiny new toy, turned it on, turned the master to about 9 o'clock and within 2 minutes I noticed the fan was on. I quit playing and left it sit and after 30 minutes the fan was still on.
I then turned it off, turned it back on and the fan came on. Is this normal? Also I was sitting about 10-12 feet away and I could hear it running. I searched and saw that the fan is supposed to be very quite.

This is one of the limited editions that was tested by Marco. Thats why I'm wondering if this is normal, but I would have thought this would have been brought up because it is very annoying!

I've had my LMII for well over a year, and I've NEVER heard the fan once.

I'd swap yours for a different one.

Weird, the fan was always on in my LMII.

Mine is so quiet I've wondered if it has worked, but its never shutdown or given me any problems so I have no complaints.

The fan running is normal in my opinion - I can hear it - but only when the room is absolutely quiet - when I am practicing late at night.

To feel better have it checked or swap it - but not sure that you quite have an issue yet?

So, is it supposed to always be on? My GK only turns on when it gets warm so I assumed this is how the LM2 would behave.

Not all amps are the same, some fans are always on and some turn on when the temperature gets high enough.

I'm pretty sure the fan is always on when my LMII is on. Funny thing is, it never get the slightest bit warm. I've wondered if the thing really even needs a fan in it.

The amp sounds fine to me. When you get a new amp and it doesn't work quite the same as your old amp, it can whack you out a little, but unless there's something going wrong with the amp, it's fine. Better the fan runs than it burns up. And at least it's quiet.

Yeah, it's always on...at least mines is. Very quiet though compared to some other manufacturers amps i've heard.

Mine is always on. I can't remember - don't have the manual with me, but I believe it's designed to run all the time (as opposed to having a thermo switch that turns it on/off). It's very quiet though. I wound up racking the amp with the power conditioner and now I can't hear it at all.

Well, that is a relief that it is supposed to run all the time. Next time I drive 3 hours to the nearest music store:scowl: I'll take it in and make sure my fan is working alright because it seems a little noisy. Thanks for the responses, I'll be able to rest easier tonight.

Mine is always on as well. It never even occurred to me it should not be that way. Every fan-equipped head I've had in the past ran constantly. At least the LM II is whisper quiet.

I can confirm that the fan runs all the time. It's thermostat-controlled, so it runs slow when the amp is cool, and speeds up as the amp gets hotter.
Normally people rave about how quiet our fans are, so if yours seems loud I guess it's possible that there's a problem with it. Or you have really good ears!
