Markbass Megathread PART 2

Hey first post here, so hey!

Right I recently bought myself a Little Mark II and then seen an SVT-410he going cheap on ebay so snapped it up. After getting both I hooked it up and was a bit disappointed with the sound. It was just sounding rubbish. Really sort of "blurry". I then hooked up the LM II into a Crate 2x15 Cab that had been replaced with eminence speakers and the sound was just amazing! The exact sound I was after.

Thinking it was possibly lacking some lows I hooked the 410he up with SVT-15e but still got the same rubbish sound. I even tried a different 410he incase mine was faulty. About to pack my stuff away I decided to hook up a Warwick profet 3 into the ampeg cab and it was sounding pretty good. ALOT better than with the LMII

Has anyone else had any experience with the LMII and ampeg cabs?

Obviously don’t want to get rid of the head but at the same time I'm a bit reluctant to get rid of the cab.

I'm using a Mex P-bass and Boss overdrive. The worst sounding was when I had the overdrive on with the LMII and the ampeg.

The place I practice has a few bands so that why I had so much diff equipment to try, jsut incase you were wondering.

Anyone got any experiance with this?

First thing that comes to mind is the VLE was on and giving you the blurry sound but as you liked the sound in to the Crate im guessing it was set ok unless you changed anything between testing the cabs.

Nope i had the VLE off and the VPF about 2 o'clock, with everything else pretty much flat. I kept the settings the same for both cabs and there was a very distinct difference.

Also i had to turn the tweeter off on the ampeg as it was giving alot of hiss.

Just not having much luck with the LMII and the ampeg cab.

Any idea why it is so? Are they gonna replace this model?
It's got nothing to do with Markbass... it's a Guitar Center decision. They're the sole US importers of the Markbass products, and they simply chose not to include that one. BTW, this frustrates me, because I'd like to have one, but I'm not willing to buy a product I have to send all the way back to Italy for service.

Ah right. i see.
I would have thought though that there should be a difference in tone from the two different cabs any way but i guess you can hear something else going on.

Hope you get it sorted out.

That's what I will have to do if sh*t happens - no dealer here:mad:

Err... :eyebrow:

I remember Peter Murray saying that they eventually will have all of the Markbass line available in the US. He said they wanted to get some of the line throughout all the GC's before introducing the rest of the models.

Since this thread is seriously lacking pics.......

Fiiiiiiine!

Yes, and we're making good progress. The SA450 should be along within the next three months.

I put a thread in the amps section but maybe I'll ask here....
Can someone explain the speaker outs on the rear of the LMII please?
Mine has ONE speakon & ONE 1/4" with 'calss 2 ...sumthing sumthing..." written next to it.??
I plugged in 2 8 ohm cabs- one into the speakon & one into the 1/4" & it sounded rubbish-thin-awful!
So I came outta the speakon into one cab & 'daisy chained' it to the other cab & it sounded as it should-GREAT!
Anyone???????? It'd be greatly appreciated!
Thanx,
Rod.

I've also heard this from both Peter as well as a couple of GC reps as well, but NOBODY has ANY idea of any realistic timeframe. This usually translates to at least many months in business terms, so for all practical purposes, it's essentially not available.

Of course Peter would like this, since it'd mean more sales, and some of us would like it, as it'd mean more selection, but ultimately, it's up to GC what they wish to import, and at least at this point, they won't commit to a timeframe.

You had to have a bad cord or something, because this makes no sense. Both speaker connectors are electrically the same... literally hard wired to each other, and the speakon is even dual purpose (can also take a 1/4" int the middle hole).

There's a time frame!
I just know how sticky you guys are with timelines and delays. I don't want to say something will be available at a certain date, and then find out there's been a delay in production, or with customs, or whatever. But orders have been placed and the new stuff is on its way!
I can tell you the "order" that these new products will arrive in:

First new batch: F1, R500, 104HR, 151HR, Classic 108, Jeff Berlin combo and Minimark.

Second batch: Classic 300, TRV 121H, Classic 104.

Third batch: LMK, SA450, TRV 151P.

And then the rest should follow around the end of the year.

Hope that helps!
Peter

Where are you guys ordering these from? I can't find a dealer online (Guitar Center's website says they're only available locally? What's that all about?)

There's no Guitar Centers in Hawaii either, but I just called one[GC] up and had it delivered in a day.
