Markbass small combo question, 121 vs 208?

I will say this- my Markbass Jeff Berlin combo & NY 151 Extension Cab I’ve been running since 2008 is probably the best gear investment I’ve ever made. Still sounds great & been more than enough in every situation I’ve put It in.

Bought a Mini CMD 121p combo from my local shop- turns out he had one! It is an apparently rare version with the 58R Head, and carpet/wood. Or is that the regular 121P "V"? Not sure. The fan could be quieter, but other than that, the sound is super nicely focused and punchy. EQ touches the right frequencies to tame the middy speaker for a ton of sound options.
If giging requires, I can add a NY 1*12 any time.

Is this the answer to the PBJ Briefcase?

Back when I got my Markbass Minimark I compared it to a Briefcase. No Contest, the Minimark excelled in every category compared to the PJB.

That is the MINI CMD121PV. I bought the predecessor used recently and I'm very happy with it. Tremendous output for 1x12" combo and expandable with the NY121p cabinet.

I got the chance to try the 208 N 300 today in my local shop. I think it sounds terrific, very detailed an clear. However, its speakers will hit excursion and thereby volume limits much sooner than the 121p- MUCH sooner. Everybody suggestsing/stating this here was right. I would see this amp as a premium practice or music school amp with potential for acoustic gis and definately acoustic upright (with a hpf maybe), and with the option of driving a more powerful cab with the 300W head. I money did not matter, I'd use this at home and a 121p for band rehearsal.

Gut feeling.
150w from the combo and 300w when paired.
It depends how hard you hit 2x8 ...
It would make me nervous. However, I'd be bit wary of 300w into a 12 hard too.

Fancy the 8's but would probably side with caution with the 121p..you have more to spare.

I do already have the 121p. It is def. a few times louder than the 208. The 208 sounds great at living room/cafe gig volumes though!
