I've done this with a silver grill cabinet. It's the simplest thing that can work, it's cheap, acoustically transparent (if you buy the right fabric), and it's 100% reversible

I would add it probably protects the drivers against dust…………….………….for bass players that don't turn it loud !

I don't like Marmite .... but I actually like the yellow cones.

PS: I was once travelling back from UK with a colleague who tried to put marmite in his hand luggage.... the Heathrow personnel was not too excited about it: apparently it qualifies as "liquid or gel" and I have seen an adult crying while throwing the marmite in the thrash can

... I just can't get into the voicing of their speakers/cabs. Funny thing is that I like the way other players sound in the mix with them, but it's just not a voicing I like for my own playing...

same here. Fortunately, I've been supplied enough of a variety of them as backline or at jams, that I don't need to wonder how I'd get over the cosmetics. I remember liking some things about them, but they never lit me up like a bunch of other lines have. Amps and cabs included.

Durability update for those who may be interested. I have been gigging these cabs almost every weekend ever since I did the blackout procedure and have yet to detect any change in the sound and the cones appear to be in every bit as good of shape as they were before being blackened. No sign of deterioration or coming apart in any way. I am considering the experiment a success!

I also reattached the faceplate logos to the grills…I like the look
