Marriage and significant other relationships

Never heard of this stuff. Googled it and a TikTok came up with a guy in truck with his girlfriend telling him she filled his truck with DEF, calling it diesel engine fuel. He was not pleased. "What do you mean, you touched my truck!"

The turbine engines in helicopters can usually run on many grades of diesel in addition to the preferred fuel, Jet-A, and many are even certified to run on one tank of gasoline, one time only, if no other fuel is available, just to get them to a proper fuel source. Seems like this DEF is much worse than putting gas in your tank.
DEF isn't fuel of any kind. It's Diesel Exhaust Fluid. 67% deionized water and 33% urea. It reacts with the nitrogen oxides to reduce emissions.

OMG. How would someone make the error of filling their tank with that? Well, forgetting about the urea, we know water is non-compressible so that engine is toast.

Years ago, when I was still into boating, the fuel dock at Catalina Island got a load of pure alcohol instead of the blend used for marine gasoline. All the boats that fueled up at Catalina came back on the "Cherry Hook," which was the nickname for Vessel Assist towboat. Fortunately I did not take my boat to Catalina that weekend.

I don't know how anyone could make that mistake. DEF doesn't really smell much. And diesel does. Also. All the DEF dispensing pumps I've seen are separate from the fuel pumps and are bright blue.

Like one comedian says, find a woman you like and just buy her a house. Saves time, and cuts the lawyers out of the equation.
My second wife was from California. When she decided she was done with me her dad, who lived there, got involved and he tried to file all kinds of motions to get me out of the house and have her get it. But I owned it before we got married and in Oklahoma that meant it's mine.

Some really good stories and advice in this thread.

My story: Even though I had a couple of serious girlfriends in college and after, marriage never happened for me. Fast-forward to my early 30s, and I had just broken up with a 'boy toy' relationship with a divorcee. (That was actually fun.) But I told my mom at the time, "I don't think I'll ever get married. I give up." A year later, a mutual friend introduced me to my now wife. She said she knew after our 2nd date that we were going to get married. In fact, when I did pop the question seven months later, she said, "If you hadn't asked ME, I was going to ask YOU." I was 36 and she was 35 and neither of us had ever been married.

We really are best friends and get along great. Sure, we've occasionally had our disagreements, but they never last long. We always appreciate each other, and I kiss her goodbye every time I leave the house. We have a wonderful 22-year-old son and will be celebrating our 24th anniversary in November. We both have a bit of OCD regarding cleanliness and organization and are both big Stephen King (and horror/sci fi in general) fans. Now I can't imagine my life without her and our son.

People have many stories, good and bad, about marriage. That's for sure.

3 months dating, 1 year engaged, just celebrated our 36th anniversary in June. We don't fight much, don't disagree on much, I'll put myself in the "win" category on marriage. She has far more faith in me than I have in myself. She's a good cook and my OCD means I'm the clean up guy. That kind of teamwork makes things go pretty smoothly. She's a homebody and prefers staying home while I go to gigs. It all works.

Now 3 married kids, with 3 grandkids. Life is good.
