Rob, my bass player has used a Marshall DBS 7400 head for the past five or six years and it's easily the best amp we've used... versatile, reliable, tough and with more power than any sane person could ever need.
A couple of months ago we picked up a second one on eBay as a spare... just in time, as it happened, as the original one went wrong a few weeks later. Basically, the "tube" side of the preamp suddenly became very fuzzy and distorted, whereas previously, it had only added a bit of warmth and thickness to the sound.
WE sent the amp back to Marshall for an overhaul/service and £70-odd later it came back on Friday, but it's still really fuzzy and overdriven on the tube side of the preamp.
Anyone else using these brilliant amps. More to the point, anyone else had this trouble and got any suggestions?
