MARSHALL VBA 400

Hi guys.I'm going to buy an amp soon and i think i need your help.I've seen a lot of amps lately and among the amps i would buy is the marshall all tube amp 400 watts.God that looks fantastic. To me the greatest looking bass amp you can buy.But this comes second. The question is how does it sound.A lot of people say that sounds very good and they place it close to mesa 400 or SVT-2 etc. However i'm not convinced.See i don't know any famous bassists who use marshall.Except Steve Harris maybe...So what do you think? Can Anyone who uses this amp help?I need your opinion so bad 'cause its quite expensive too.

Hope you'll help...
best regards

When I used one...(.& yeah as MY Fender 300PRO the vol. IS OMG!!!!!!!! ) .........& it had a GREAT sound, was nicely versatile-could go from a nice scooped modern slap style to a vintage tube round sound & also gave a nice overdrive when U adjust it right. I liked it A LOT!!! If it did 8 ohms(like my Fender) I would have grabbed it istead of the Fender!
I did see Peter Gabriels bassist using one on "later with Jools".
