I drank the MAS Kool-Aid awhile ago and had to have one of these 8" cabinet designs. I was going to go with the 38 originally but opted for the 18/28 combo deal. Liked the utility. Figured I could use the 28 for most fiddle band gigs and add the 3rd for the original band with a drummer and electrics.

Drama aside, I kept the faith and my cabs arrived yesterday.

They each have a 1" tweeter and a 4" mid driver in each. I included pics to try to show all the drivers.

I also went with the non powered version. Not because of the problems mentioned in other threads but because I love my amps! I've got 2 AI amps, an iamp 800, and a GB Shuttle 9.

So far, it sounds great! I tried my P, J and my upright. Upright sound with my black box and AI head sounds magical. Of course this is me alone in my studio. No band to rehearse in with or gigs to give a final thumbs up but, so far so good.

Mostly played Ampeg 210AVs to get the volume but wanted something with less "color"

I went for a pair of crazy 88s which I loved but when the band added a drummer and electrics, the rig couldn't hang.

This setup seems to get pretty loud while staying flat. We'll see when we go live again some day.

I was using a 46 and a 110 sub together for about a year at a regular Wed nite gig. No FOH support. This was with a fairly hard hitting drummer and a guitarist with a Fender deluxe or vibrolux. I got my 28 4 ohm and it changed everything. It sounded just as big. It was much faster than the other setup. It was so much more controlled in a good way. This was with my Aluminum Pfretzschner and a Demeter head.

Big Shiny,
How are you faring? Loving the MAS 1/8 v1 and v2 and the 4x5.5.

Chris,
Mike mentioned somewhere in an old post, that he took some inspiration from the VL-108 and 208's for his cabinets. So, with the newer Eminence and now Ciare Drivers. He's

getting IME, the vibe of the EA VL series, ( like you I owned the EA VL 108 and 208) with significantly better frequency response, timbre, and note definition. The VL 208 was an incredible

cabinet but really heavy, while the 108 was great for it's size but just couldn't get very loud.

I’m doing well Ric. Hope you are also.
I really can’t say enough about the 28, it really defies logic. It wasn’t until I got her broke in and fired her up in a club. The size/ weight ratio to output/quality of sound is ridiculous. Just my .02
It’s a lot of bang for the buck
