massachusetts bassists club

Anybody still alive? We should try to post our MA gigs here:

If you're feelin' nostalgic about the Cove in Wormtown stop by 6/29 - my band #6 :help: is playing a set. I'm basically a fill-in for the one gig but will probably stay if they can get it in gear - they did the same thing last summer then lost the bass and drummer. Hard rock startup dad band LOL. The guitarist and singer are actually pretty good (new drummer's OK too and has a killer rehearsal space ) - dunno how long they were out of it or what previous projects they were in. Guitarist is a surfer (friend of Tony's :wideyed:) and the singer is into the martial arts so they called the band "Surf Dragon" (hey, been many worse names LOL) - I've got 10 years on them so only old fat guy is me :nailbiting:.

Co-incidentally another band of mine (Hang 5 - not a surfer band but some Dick Dale, Ventures etc) is hosting a live music night at the PACC in Webster MA tonight 8-12. First TBer in the door gets a free beer :D.

Where all are the rest of youse guys playing in the next month?

Unfortunately (?) I live in CT on the MA and RI border so a bit of a PITA to post public gigs to all within an easy drive :meh:.
The Road Owls (Holden, MA)
Hang 5 (Webster, MA)
The Oughttas (Plainfield, CT)
Surf Dragon (Uxbridge, MA)

I use to play the Cove all the time too, had a steady Thursday night gig there during the early 80's. We used to pack that place.

I have it on the authority of a resident--Medfed. Out of towners tend to exaggerate. In Medford they don't drop the d (they aren't completely neanderthal) but the "or" sound, fuggetaboudit. The same is true of Sommerville. It's summavle, not somvle.

One town, Wabin, is spelled exactly like a MA native would pronounce it. I've often wondered if they have wiley wabbits in Wabin.

What's an 'R'? Oh, I know, you mean 'ah'.

Born in Worcester, and grew up in Millbury Ma, right next to Worcester, played in that city and state and the surrounding area for many years, I'm living in Lima, Peru right now but may move back somewhere in Ma soon.
Well if you have too I recommend Shelburne Falls or Rockport. For awhile last year the traffic jams all went away...it was magical... but they are back and it starts at 2mp for the dawn patrol. Oh yes, everybody is busy in Massachusetts.
There was a Bob Young in the Boston scene in the late 80s and 90s, he played atmospheric guitar in Uzi, A Scanner Darkly and Emerald Vain. I guess you're not him.

Nope, not him, Rockport is really nice place I know the Shelburne Falls area but I'll probably end up back in the Worcester area, if I do come back. I used to play Boston quite a bit though, The Channel and Bunratty's come to mind, Jack's, played The Rat once and other places, it's been a long time though. I do play guitar but always played bass in bands.
