Mataching a head with my converted Rumble 200 cab

As posted elsewhere I may have to just salvage my Rumble 200 and turn it into a cab. If so ... what power can I throw at it? I know the amp itself is rated at 140 watts without an extension speaker but how much power would be too much if I just use it with an amp head? I guess 140 watts but probably not the full 200 watts because that is what happens when the load is split among two speakers. In other words, what is the rating for this stock speaker? There is little use I think to get an amp head that would offer more power than the speaker can stand .. or am I wrong? Of course I don't have to run the thing at full power but I still would like to know the actual capacity of this speaker.

Btw, I did some sleuthing and went to the Eminence website. The speaker, which I understand is made in China, isn't listed. Our friend Google AI however says the speaker is an Eminence Dongguan V3 and is rated at 200 watts. So that may give me an idea of what bass head I should be looking at.

140W is a very good guess. However if you really go nuts with heavy lows, 140W is probably sufficient to blow the driver.

The RMS power rating of the driver really doesn't indicate how much power a bass cab can handle. The mechanical power handling below 100hz is often the limiting factor. I.E. it's not unusual for mechanical power handling to be lower than a driver's RMS power rating. Put the same driver in a different cab design and the mechanical power handling is likely to change.

Word on the street is it's the same driver that's in the 115 cabs and they're rated for 300W. Anecdotally it may be true as I haven't heard of many speaker failures in those combos, just amplifier issues, on TalkBass at least.

The Rumble Club may have an accurate answer for you...

The story I remember is that Fender developed the Eminence 15” driver for use in the Rumble 115 cabinet, and liked the sound & performance so much they decided to use it in the 200 combo, even though it was overkill for that application.
The DRIVER should have power-handling capability similar to a Rumble 115 cabinet.

I realize that the tuning of the cabinets will be different for the two units, and that can be important for power handling (right, Agedhorse?), but the drivers are the same. Just be careful...
