Did you get yours new? Which model? Every EA amp i've ever heard has sounded fantastic. I can't vouch for their business practices or customer service issues but tone wise i'm a huge fan of their amps.

Why would I get one? They are badly made, and poorly designed, and massively overpriced, plus Matamp is right here.

Not many amps here... just saw this thread on the homepage, so I'll share mine (no need for a club number, just sharing for fun):

This is a Matamp 1224.

It's not technically a bass amp, but I use it on bass and Rhodes and whatever. I was actually in the music store looking for an amp that would sound like John Wetton on King Crimson "Red", and what do I see but an amp that is shouting "RED" at me!

I tried it out and sure enough, it has some great distorted sounds in it, and I sounded enough like Wetton that I had to take it home!

All I have to do is run a bit of low frequency boost on an external eq and the amp works great (for me) as a low power all-tube bass amp. That Wetton tone I'm using this for doesn't have much deep low end in it anyway.

It has all sorts of power-scaling features and a unique sounding reverb, but most importantly is the nice distortion sound in it.

I'm interested in playing around with different power amp tubes to optimize the amp for bass, and from what I read this model can take a wide range of power amp tube types (cathode biasing or something - is that what they call that?).
Currently runs 6CA7. This is a topic I don't know much about and need to research. Any tips?
