Math Rock/ Mathcore/ Post-Rock Bassists Club!

Has anyone ever heard of Meet Me In St. Louis? This band is legitimately so good their record label established an unofficial publicholiday for them after they broke up (MMISL Day, September 24th). Above all, I think it's the vocals and bass tone that prevents me from ever getting tired of them. Thoughts?

May I join your fine club? I have always loved math - anything that has to do with music. I, like the OP had listened to some very early recordings of myself on my computer to find I was playing in 5/4 and 11/4 before I even understood time signtures. I listen to alot of metal-influenced stuff (DEP, Car Bomb, Blotted Science, ect), but I get my fill of math rock too. I just recently found This Town Needs Guns and I am blown away.

I too wish to join. Played in a Math band not long ago but finished uni and we all moved away. Still aiming to record what we wrote though... If I had anything worth showing I'd have taken the opportunity to self promote.

Meet Me In St. Louis: Very good. This could easily sound like a lie but I just listened to Variations on Swing and the final track faded out as I read that suggestion. I too recommend Meet Me In St. Louis.

I also like: This Town Needs Guns, Tangled Hair, Blakfish, &U&I, Brontide and Shapes.

I still live in the same town where all the members of Tera Melos got together. Around 2002, my band would play at the same coffee shop the day after they did. Chipped windows and all. The wildest shows in history. That really got me into math rock/post-rock/noise-rock bands. Russian Circles and Young Widows are my favorites as of late.

I just joined an instrumental post-rock(hate that term) band called KUATO. Pretty awesome stuff, similar to Do Make Say Think, Mogwai, Russian Circles, Red Sparowes...etc. All of the EPs are free to download here: Link Removed

I didn't play on the recordings. The old bass player used a Fender Jaguar for all of the recordings I think. I've introduced a P with flatwounds sound to the band. It's working....I think.
