May I ask for you opinion?

So I been thinking for a long time about getting my SR1605E painted. I really want to do it but at the same time I feel like I'm violating the beauty of this wood. What do you guys think? My photoshop skills show below what it may look like. Of course, I couldnt really do the glossy look I'm going for. If you click on the picture it looks with better resolution. The picture on the forum looks a little bit darker.

Well, I'm not really a huge fan of burl, so I see no harm in painting it.

Are you going for a opaque color burst, or a semi transparent burst as the last picture shows?

Before I scrolled down and I read "painting" I was like "oh, no", but after seeing that it's transparent colors... yeah, I think that'd look good either way. I've seen a lot of really nice dye jobs on poplar and maple burls. I'm guessing you would be doing the colors on top of the finish that's on it? If so, I guess if it doesn't turn out the way you want it, you could get the colors off at least.

The only thing I might be worried about with a burl is if there's a lot of fill in the natural voids and what they filled with. Might be difficult to sand back down to wood and fill parts may show up as blotchy there with a transparent dye. Perhaps someone with more experience with refinishes could give you a better idea.

Likely no need to strip it. Do the transparent finish. That way, up until you put clear on top, youncan sand it back tom where you started. Btw, I like the burts but have you considered the center being yellow or even chartreuse? If your goal ismto be dramatic it will really pop!
