Mayan Civilization & Its Disappearance.

Disease, famine, war with neighboring bodies, or a combination of all three.

And that could just be from their area. Not to mention the disease and potential famine explorers brought.

I think the best hypotheses I've heard was tha the big cities weren't sustainable so they all ventured out and became wandering herder/farmer/gatherers again, There was some evidence to support it, mostly in the for of EVE and another scientific theory that is mostly thought of as a way to spread evolution.
 
They played too many ERBs, and the Bass gods smote them.

Except for John Turner. he is the Reincarnation of some Mayan dude with a name I can't pronounce who in 2012 will save us all from He Who Waits Behind the Wall to Sing the Song that End the World. What else could be the explanation for his collection of [del]aircraft carriers[/del] 7-string basses? I mean, aside from him being awesome and stuff.

That, or he plans to use them as landing strips when the Alien Smurfs invade.
