Maybe I got the wrong bass?

hey guys! At least 2 weeks ago I went to a musical store to pick up my first bass since I am a beginner. We saw a few REALLY small beginner basses that were really easy, Uncomfortable and didn't really like the sound of those and then we saw a fender squier J bass which sounded quite good but I was looking for something like the sound of this bass Invalid Link Removed.

I was looking for that kind of sound or something Similar to that. But my dad a bit of stressed me and told me that he would've go with the Fender bass and I really liked it but It wasn't the ACTUAL sound I was looking for, It was kind of "Funky" and I really hate it when people tell me what to do on stores and my dad kind of stressed me to buy it.
What should I do? did I make a mistake? I really wanted a bass that sounds similar to this Invalid Link Removed. Or this

Fender Jazz can do a wide range of sounds and has been played by famous players in different styles... Flea also used one and in fact the latest album is mostly if not all Jazz.

but you seem to have a good idea of the sound you want. I would say just keep looking and trying basses till you find "the one". Stand your ground, and buy what you want, after all you are the one who will play the thing.

But bear in mind that although any given bass has a particular sound, the amp/speakers & settings you play it through will also have a big influence.

Sounds good.. I plugged it to an amplifier because I forgot about it xD Sounds really better and yeah maybe I should stick with it for a while and later find the bass I want in the future. After all, It's not really matter on what I play, What matters is HOW I play on it. But sometimes it doesn't matter how you play, What matters is what you enjoy xD but I'ma stick with line number 1111111

If you are new to bass, you are going to ask yourself that question a couple dozen more times during your career. Each bass you try or buy will have things that teach you something about the instrument. Just learn from it, and move on. Eventually, you will hone in on what is 'you', but even then, GAS will cause you to experiment.
