Meazzi Hollywood (referenced) project

Doing a search for Maezzi Jupiter basses - I found this example with a bridge like the one I installed. (cool!) Mine is medium scale so I wonder if they did both long and medium scale? Note no thumb-rest, no exposed pole pu's, smaller (string-stop) cover, bigger control cavity plate and different pu locations. I wish I could find an original Maezzi string-stop cover!

My understanding is the ones without exposed/adjustable polepiece pickups and the two piece bridges were later production. An Italian friend had one like this - he said it was also long scale (I can't swear that's correct though). It also had the center binding which mine does not. I believe the "Acoustic Jupiter" hollowbody version was medium (or short) scale and had the two piece bridge/tailpiece. Pickup placement seems totally random on these.

I bought these tiny gold star-bursts when I first started this project - looks like they found a use. I should reverse the black & white - that way the stars will show up better. Gotta get a clean printed version - this is a drawn quicky to see what I'm after.

Neck pu surround riser done - a bit thinner than the bridge pu riser which was anticipated - strings are closer to the pu there. Point being - specifically custom. These things can not be found on eBay...

Replaced the knobs I had on it with these smaller polished aluminum knobs. I got then from Czechoslovakia (eBay) if I recall - they are RI's of a vintage knob from there. They didn't have the rubber collars (that came on them) so I cut a couple from a road-bicycle inner-tube. They have screws to tighten the knob to the pot-shaft so the collar has to be able to be removed easily to get at the set-screw. Works like a charm :thumbsup: and looks much better. (era correct)

Something went wrong when I bid on the bridge cover (on Saturday) and the auction ended w/no bids. (?) I wrote to the (mega) seller asking if I could just buy it for the posted starting bid - heard nothing back and it's been re-listed for Thursday ~ I don't want to bid on it until then because someone might see it being bid on and outbid me at the last moment. Hopefully not, but we'll see - eBay can be weird like that.

I went ahead and 'bid' on the (eBay) bridge cover. (entry bid) ahead of time - if I "win" it - great. If someone outbids me in the final seconds... so be it. I refuse to get hooked into competing in a bidding war. Never been addicted to gambling - never will (luckily) - I understand that it is a sadly destructive thing. My way of looking at it is, if something was meant to be - it will be. If not - move on. Something better will usually emerge.

it was a consolation prize from Dan taking so long to finish the neck. I ordered 'roasted' maple (6 months ago), and got roasted flamed maple for no extra cost! Sometimes being patient and understanding of an individuals unpredictable circumstances ends up in a better place in the end. :) It's going to sing in harmony with the awesome Antigua/trans-tobacco finish Pat will do on the body.
