nah, no worries - like I said, I'm just not willing to play that game. Something better will emerge.
Just put the final coating of LUX acrylic clear (seal-coat) on the body - will let it cure over night, finish-sand and box for shipping and ship tomorrow. Put a wipe-on satin poly coat on the neck - a few more to go. The show must go on!

Body is in Pat's cue - neck finish done (about 6 thin coats of wipe-on satin poly) badge is a hand written mock-up

Still holding out for a suitable string-stop cover but this could work. I have weeks before the body returns so lots of time to possibly find something better.

"won" this '60s MIJ cover, similar to the other one I was outbid on.(same seller) May work, might not - we'll see.

Just to kill time while awaiting Pat to do his magic on the body... speaking of which, I think I will name this bass "Juniper" as a nod to "Junpiter". I always enjoy a good wordplay, and it also nods to commercial second-tier brands aligning a very similar name to a successful brand-name. It's a bit less common than it used to be, but I still see examples of it being utilized today. I can't post examples - but most adult 'consumers' know what I'm talking about. So since I'm nowhere near that level of commercialism, or do I ascribe to be - I find it a fun ironic 'wink' to American consumerism. (then & now) Back then, it was MIJ and lower tier American companies - today it's China, Indonesia, Korea... and lower tier American companies. Capitalism never changes.
Where was I... oh yah.., so this is a random post as I don't know where else to post this... I mean - it could go to pedals/effects or something.., but I'll just post it here.
My band, The Sean Conneries plays Heroes by Bowie. Our last live show a few weeks ago - we ended the set with it. I dare say everyone loves Heroes. Great artist, great song... authentically anthemic. Well, we do our own version of it (which we have yet to record ~ soon!) which begins with a droning, spacey intro* before launching into a Motown groove. (Bowie did many different versions of Heroes over time) It's cool, but we are a quartette (g/b/k/d) so the sustained 'A' Fripp-riff (I should copyright that!) is missing. Enter my trusty (now old) BOSS RC-2 Loop Station. (with er.., altered graphics...)
At one time, I was all about loopers/delay pedals. I have a Digitech 2-second Digital Delay, an 8 sec DigiTech Sampler, and two Loopers - the Boss JamMan, and this one.
They are probably looked at a ancient at this point. ("my phone app can do all that and more!") ... but whatever.., I haven't used them for a number of years, but they are cool pedals.
Once again, side-tracked.., or as I like to think of it.., expanding the reference umbrella over what I will eventually address...
If you have ever used these devices - a big part of their potential "magic" lies in creating a successful (nearly seamless) "loop". Imagine what it took to achieve this in the days of tape - record, locate, cut & splice - adjust for levels. In any modern Pro-Tools equipped recording studio today - it's like... easy-peasy. But as this isn't quite either... it is cool when you can manipulate a basic-perimeter 'system' to do something useful. On YouTube, type in Bowie - Heroes and there are a very big number of related vids.

and this one* for the drone-y intro
After years of not fiddling with it getting up to speed, I trapped two most excellent Frippian loops using these vids as source; one, the ambiance Moog intro drone (a seamless chuck of it anyway), and secondly - the classic A (etc) sustained guitar riff. No recordings of it yet. I will introduce them during Heroes at our next rehearsal and we'll see if it can (easily) be incorporated into that song during a live set. Both are pretty "open" so I'm hoping they can be bended in to good effect without much effort. If not - it's fun revisiting/engaging with these cool pedals again!
The DigiTech 2 Second Delay/8 sec Sampler are a blast! Hours of entertainment and really fun in an improv live mix. Here's a totally live/no overdub G/B/D trio recording

Thanks Steve! I intro'd it at last nights TSC's rehearsal but my loops output wasn't strong enough to be heard in to our (louder) live playing of it. But I know what to do, so I'll have it ready for our next rehearsal. I got this cool I-phone mic-stand clamp (for cheap on eBay) that holds my Loop Station pedal nicely! I didn't take pics - but I will next week. I also need to incorporate a foot-switch/trigger so I can be playing while triggering it. I have one, just didn't bring it...
It sounds like ou are zeroing in on it. Let us know how it develops.

The missing piece of the puzzle has been found! 
I'll need to do some modification since I already have a string-stop and hope the Meazzi will will fit over it.
I like the double lucite lined pg on this model - I think I'll incorporate that into the mix!

Imagined (probably creme coloured) out-lined clear lucite floating pg and Meazzi string-stop cover footprint over existing string-stop. My internally grounded string-stop is set in stone so the Meazzi will have to be modified to fit over it. My string stop may stick out a bit at the top & bottom but as the Meazzi is elevated and cast of thick (probably soft) 'pot' metal, grinding material away where needed should make a fit possible. Something old, something new...

Being made of such thick material, it appears that it was a combined string-stop and cover. As in, once screwed down, strings would be hooked into the underside slots and the string break to the bridge would be enough to keep them in place. I've seen such using thinner material which probably wouldn't provide the needed 'mass' to sufficiently ground the strings to the body.
This is a 6-string version, but I've seen vintage 4 string ss versions like it. Thin bent tabs compared to the thick cast blocks on the underside of the Meazzi. Ok for a 6-string guitar I guess, but not good for a bass.
