Oops, I've already mailed her two CD/books and some cash for a music stand + whatever else she can pick up w/ what's left. I wasn't gonna say nothing (embellisher knew...I don't want thanks or praise... God's the reason) and I haven't checked the thread in days and days. Sorry! check w/ Embellisher to see if he thinks she'll need 'em.

If I still had my handwritten lessons from Jeff Berlin, I'd send them, but I lost them years ago. He does teach out of trombone solo books, so if that's any hint, run with it.

If doubles are received on any particular title, I'm fairly certain they'll be put to good use!

Hey Embellisher, looks like there's a lot of GREAT people wanting to do what they can for Amazing Grace. I think you need to post a list of what she's got/getting and what you/she may need. So, we don't send duplicate items. God's at work.... aint it grand!!! I don't know who's more blessed, Grace, or those she's inspired! All right.... eyes tearing up again, time to look at some other threads. :) God and my daughter really softened up this man's heart! And, I'm VERY grateful!

No worries, I will get in touch with embellisher and alter my plan to suit...thanks for letting me know.

i was thinking, would she like some bass instructional videos? i was just looking on half.com and there are a few there. john entwistle, natahn east, rick danko, nathan east etc. might give her a good all around feel for different styles she might like. i'd be willinmg to send her some. eric, let me know if thats a good idea.

Absolutely! That would be a great idea. If nothing else, it would be adding new dimensions to how to approach bass lines.

Grace was so excited to get her own bass! I told Bassic83 that I wish he had been here in person to see her. She wouldn't let go of my hand the whole rest of the night after I presented the bass to her.

ok i just ordered 5 bass instructional videos for her. 3 of them are "celebrity" videos and way to advanced for her right now but, shell will grow into them. the other 2 are beginner teach yourself bass vids. just trying to give her a well rounded bass experience!!!!

WHEW!!! Finally read through all the posts in this thread.

All I can do is repeat everything that has been said already...this is all GOOD!!

...and I must admit I like the looks of that little Ibanez bass. Maybe I can get me one for myself (and all my nieces that are asking Uncle Joe to teach them some bass:D)

Even from just the pictures, the look of excitment on her face in INFECTIOUS! :) Goodness... With all this support, Grace will be outplaying us all, and soon!

Like many others have said, my best wishes and prayers go out to her! This is definitely one of the most uplifting things I've seen in a long time!

Several people have mentioned donating effects and such. I recently switched to two smaller, modular boards (the "Death Star Board" was just too big for church! lol), so I've got a Pedaltrain Pro sitting around collecting dust that I'd be more than happy to donate. It's velcroed up and ready for as many pedals as can be squeezed on it! Besides, it sounds like with all the other support, she might need the room even if she doesn't get her own serious case of G.A.S. :D lol

The question arose of whether or not she could use pedals and the side table thing is a fantastic solution. This Pedaltrain would probably even work perfectly on foldable keyboard bench, too. There are quite a few out there with heights in the 18" - 25" range that would be almost perfect to sit next to someone in a wheelchair. She'd definitely need someone to lug that beast around for her though! lol

Bassic83 and embellisher, I know it's been said that you guys have done a great thing, but I'd like to say it again. You guys are truly fantastic examples of generous, kindhearted people that this world needs MANY more of. Please, PM me and let me know if you guys want that Pedaltrain and/or if there's any other way I can offer support!

Please make sure to keep us updated on Grace's progress!

I've never met Grace- she lives about 600 miles away from me. I'm sure I will eventually meet her, but this was just a way for me to give back to the bass community, and to do something positive in an increasingly negative world. I've also never met Jeff, though we have PM'ed back and forth, and we've talked on the phone. My brother lives in Arkansas, as well- maybe if I ever get up there to visit, I can make a side trip!

She should do fine with a "slap-stand" (trademark claimed here!), a side table for her effects, should she desire them! That way, she can smack the pedals with her hand to turn them on/off. Where there's a will, there's a way!

If anyone has a book of trombone solos, that was one thing that helped me with phrasing and developing my own voice. The range of those two instruments are darn near identical, and having "horn-like" expressions is rarely a bad thing on bass! :)
