i think they are great, but also i think you should make the walking solo sound melodic with your note choices. it should not just be what you did during the head.
RE: Grenadier - i like to use his approach to this, where you are displacing notes in the measure here and there to add interest. Especially useful at fast tempos. There is no reason a solo has to be rhythmically dense, essentially.
