I can't get enough of his work on Rollins Band Weight, and Come In and Burn. I would love to see'em in another rock project. Anyone else dig him?

Melvin Gibbs

Huge fan. IMHO, some of his best playing is on a CD called "Raw Meet" with Elliott Sharp. It's not so much a rock record, but the playing is stellar and the music is great.
Whenever someone asks me my opinion on

I always mention Strange Meeting by Power Tools, the trio of Bill Frisell, Melvin Gibbs, and Ronald Shannon Jackson. But that recording is so not about the individuals (rather, it's about their telepathic collective mindset & emotional connection to the material imho) that I almost never think to myself "man, I love Melvin Gibbs!"
But I do love most of the music I've ever heard him play. His work with Decoding Society is killer.
Don't know if he ever recorded any of this, but I know Melvin did some gigs with the Black Rock Coalition. He also had a post-fusion trio with Vernon Reid & Wil Calhoun that was by all accounts completely face-melting.
