Men Shaving... I'll never understand

My sister's husband shaved his beard a couple of years ago. Until then, their youngest son had never seen his father without a beard. It took a few minutes for my sister and BIL to convince him that this person was his dad.

There are certain types of critters who like to take up residence in human hair. Shaving was a way of keeping those critters in check. If you have school-age children then you know what I’m talking about.

I know what that feels like! I had to shave my beard completely off and my wife had never seen my upper lip in her life, and my toddlers were staring at a stranger

I shave for while, then grow for a month, trim back etc. Shaving for me is tricky. Got to use the right stuff, and the sharpest 5 bladed Gillet cartage or my skin ends up with a horrible looking rash around my neck. But beard trimmers are awesome.

So if you choose *not* to shave, is there not some limit? Is there a limit to either you (1) beard length, or (2) hair length? Isn't a close shave another form (degree) of that same limit?

What about men who have a beard but keep their heads shaved. What do you think of them? Do you question them in the same way.

I have has a short beard (maybe 1/4"-1/2") for years. I shave my neck.

Recently I decided to shave clean just once to see what would happen. Nobody cared at all.... except my younger daughter. She lost her mind. She cried for two days. It only took a few days to get it back to "acceptable" for her.

But I won't do THAT crap again. She's scarred for life.

My father had a moustache for my entire life, to the point where - upon joining the CAF and moving away - he shaved it for a while. I didn't cry, but I'm not going to lie that while he was the same dude, up until that point I literally (and not in the figurative interpretation of literally, I mean literally) couldn't imagine the guy without one. It'd be like Mario without a mustache.

I guess, suffice to say, I can get it.

Speaking of munching taco’s, I can’t get anywhere near certain parts of my girlfriend with a beard, and if I don’t go there, she doesn’t go there. Shaved face, everybody is happy. End of story.

My apologies for the wording of that post, I just finished a course with a bunch of friends and one of our course mates local to the area informed us of the nearest microbrewery, which also happened to be one of my favorites in Ontario. So if it didn't make sense that's why

Honestly though, he's the same guy with or without the mustache, just a VERY different sight, even if it's only changing his upper lip.
