Men Shaving... I'll never understand

Other than a patch on my chin, my face will not support growing facial hair in a way that is publically acceptable. Besides, my wife is way more interested in participating in certain activities when I'm attentive to the manscape.

Quanitity of hair has zero to do with masculinity.

Its not. Thats how I filled in my beard when I was younger. Your face, if youre able, has those peach fuzz hairs in the void spaces. When you shave those off they will grow back, only thicker. I just thickened my beard when I shaved it off last Halloween, the difference can not only be felt, but has been noticed by others.

Ever gotten a haircut? Same deal.

How is shaving making men look more feminine? It just makes men look YOUNGER. That's the only difference. The fact that you find it makes men look like women makes me think an appointment with a optometrist might do you some good. lol!

Alexander the Great's armies and Roman Legionnaires were clean shaven. Girly men conquered some of the largest empires in history. Before Peter the Great everyone in Russia was required to have beard. Peter made it a death penalty offense to have a beard; but then he created a lot of death penalty offenses.

Sorry OP, the premise is asinine.

Your hair grows from the follicles under the skin, when you shave it, what you are cutting is already (in essence) dead. That doesn't stimulate further growth, it does make it feel initially rougher as you've just put a near perpendicular cut through it, but that rounds off.

Growth is more noticable when cleanly shaven too. Going from practically zero to a few mm is a lot more obvious than a few mm extra ontop of a couple cm beardage.

If shaving really did make hair grow in quicker, could you imagine how bad stubble would be on a girls armpits, legs and . . . *ahem*

I didnt say quicker, I said thicker. And nothing about stimulating further growth, only that the thinner hairs will grow in more thick, thus making ones beard more full.

I'm 20 and genetics are so that i have a full beard without any holes that's quite respectable. My skin really doesn't handle shaving very well. I have no shaved my face in about 2 years maybe more. However, I usually keep it trimmed and short, I'm no fan of the hobo look.

I've been thinking about shaving it lately. But I'm kind of concerned about my skin.

I've been shaving the same splotchy facial hair away for 18 years and it hasn't thickened a bit. Hair grows from the follicle so cutting it above that point wont affect how it grows. The hair itself is not living material and has no means to grow on its own. Facial hair is what your genes give you.

They'll have started growing thicker on thier own, as facial and body hair tends to do, cutting the hair doesn't stimulate growth (be it in length or breadth). Increased thickness would still be an increase in growth.

I grow a big, thick full Beard. Think Neil Fallon.

I shave for a lot of reasons.
Not the least of which is Mrs Bting prefers it, and I'm man enough to recognize that my wife's opinion matters.
It feels better in the summer.
It does not get snot-sickle clogged in winter
Way less maintenance.
Cleaner.
I enjoy the 15 minutes a day it takes me. Just "me" time.
I look like a 6'4" 275lb horror show villian if I let it fill in.

D'yer really figger we're all dainty, just because we run a double edged blade across our faces 5-6 times a week?

I suspect after the OP has Father time visit him a few more times, he'll stop defining his masculinity by how much facial hair he has, how big a lift kit he has on his pickup truck, and the amount of hard liquor he can guzzle before puking it up.

I keep my mutton chops/sideburns trimmed, and they come in well enough, but the moustache/beard area of my face comes in really, really light blond, so even when I do grow facial hair there, you can't see it. So I just keep the front shaved clean. It actually works out fine: I get to have facial hair, and my lady friends aren't irritated while I'm...*ahem* exploring.

I have a beard though I keep it relatively trimmed. I only shave my neck at this point about once a week. I love the look, and I've always struggled with sensitive skin, so shaving usually makes me break out no matter what I do. Having a beard avoids the hassle.
