Meris Enzo Synth Pedal

Hey, I thought a bunch of posts ago you were okay using what you had? Why are you still trying to create an argument about what has been answered and decided. We heard you. Have you heard the Enzo demos? Maybe I'm opening Pandora's box of trolls here, but how do you think it sounds? I wasnt much of a fan of the newest Sonuus unit, since it didnt track well, but this pedal seems to do a good job no?

I can make do with what I have, and financially that also makes sense. I think the Enzo opens up many new options and sounds great. I think the integration with other gear is problematic, and so even if I had ready cash to buy the Enzo, I would be wary if doing so because of that. So then that leads me to stick with, and use better what I already have. If the MIDI implementation was more like that of the Novation Circuit, it would be an easier sell, cash permitting.

I'd agree with you on the Sonuus and tracking.

If the MIDI I/O accepted MIDI over USB as well, though, I'd get it as a portal between USB and standard MIDI, let alone anything else.

I wonder if the Novation TRS MIDI works with the Enzo.

Anyone have issues getting sound? I plugged in the pedal and it sounded killer on default. Followed the video’s instructions on how to enable MIDI - hold alt, power on, turn modulation to right, set channel with filter env mode and then power off so it saves. Now I just have pass through sound even though every light is working fine. Mymix knob is fully to the right. I guess I need to do more manual diving to figure this out.

Edit. Figured it out somehow. I would suggest to really learn the global settings. I think i had something off in there that i needed to fix.

The day I ordered the Enzo I posted the Matryoshka for sale , however , no luck in selling it yet ... or should I say , luckily I didn’t sell it.

Decided to A/B The Matryoshka and the Enzo and realized that as great as the Enzo is , I can’t really get the kind of sounds I got from the Matryoshka ... so I’m keeping both. I’m pretty sure I’ll never use both of them live , but I messed around with it and having the Enzo in Poly mode they sound kind of cool together .... I didn’t do any overdubbing , this is one of the sounds I got from the 2 pedals together

Dropbox - enzo and matryoshka.mp3

Finally got it set up with the DMC.micro - works like a dream :hyper:

I've not come across the DMC.micro before but that looks brilliant - thanks! Two Qs:
1) how many of the 16 presets can you access with the DMC micro?
2) will it also work with SA pedals in place of the neurohub?

I’m also interested in this.

If it sends MIDI PC messages then you’ll be able to access all 16 Enzo preset slots. It wouldn’t replace the hub, but would be used in conjunction to access its presets.

I’m just reading the manual and modes for the SA Hub (and FI) are in the built-in menu pages on the device.

Me too :)

Seems like this could be just the ticket!

Just need to think about whether the DMC Micro is going to cover all the basses (excuse the pun) or to go for the next model up in the DMC midi control line up i.e. the DMC 3XL

Yea, all 16 presets (could be more if the Enzo allowed) are accessible as is on/off and cc commands (which I'm not using). One of the bigger DA pedals would enable the use of an expression pedal also. I'm planning on replacing the Utility Knife with a Alexander Wavelength and using a this to connect them all for midi control: ICY-30 Insert cable & Connectors

So in theory I could use up all the 99 presets on the DMC.micro with various combinations of Wavelength and Enzo presets.

I think you still need the HUB for the SA pedals.

I used to own that pedal - wish I still did, the added 1/4 inch out is very useful (I traded up for the DPC-5 Gen3 but I'm thinking of flipping that again - these days I prefer more compact boards)

oh gosh, sure would be a shame if we could hear it in action ;) fo' real tho, that is a tight little rig you got there man

I really should record something but I'm off on holiday next week so it ain't going happen soon... I guess what we should all start doing though is noting down our settings (I guess either diagrammatically or in a spreadsheet) to share

Brilliant, thanks for your replies! I'm a big fan of compactness too, and the 3XL doesn't seem a huge amount bigger than the Micro in terms of pedal board real estate, although it's pretty much double the price.

But I think you're saying that it's going to be worth me spending the extra to get the 3XL (instead of the Micro) in terms of what it can do?

That cable isn't going to work. If using a Y cable even does work (don't know that it does or doesn't) it will have to be a TRS to two TRS, or a Stereo Y cable.

Im getting real nice sounds out of this. Still
Figuring it out, but im getting close to putting something down in a song i am working on.

Not seeing any difference between line and instrument level. This may just be due to me going into a preamp, but im curious whats recommended. Maybe Angelo can speak to that.

Tracking is really solid. I also love the octave up for leads. Its thicker and much more mallable than something like a pog. Also responds faster as well.

Was trying to get away from the farty Sine wave sound and i figured out square plus working all 3 filter knobs is key.

Also, tracking is really great with sustain off, but if you want that enternal sustain that a keyboard brings, this can do it with the knob turned up.

The different modes changes what level the input signal will clip the converters. Gain is always unity regardless of the headroom mode. If you are not clipping either mode, then I would recommend the instrument level mode. Terry listed the maximum input before clipping in both modes is in our online manuals.

Glad you are getting sounds that you love out of it. There are endless sounds in each mode, so it takes a week or two to full get a handle on how all the controls work together. And even after all that, you will keep surprising yourself with new sounds.

Makes sense. I think I may have been clipping a little in instrument mode last night since I was using my Sadowsky and it has a little more output. I will check it out more. The online manual is excellent and really explains a lot, just takes a little time to go over in detail.
