Congrats. Very nice choice. The BTB1406e was the forerunner when I was bass shopping in August. Ultimately I went for the SR1206e instead since I found I preferred the narrower string spacing and highly radiused board. I would still like to get my hands on a BTB 6er though.

I was actually tied between those two models! I had a list of pros and cons that were about even between the two. It really came down to finding the btb for such a good price. I could totally see myself with a less high end sr at some point, especially if they make a portamento 6 string.

Was that originally a 5 string neck pocket or are you cutting some extra space in the neck pocket?

4 string neck pocket, so removing some wood on one side or the other - may actually be easier to cut down the back of the neck by 1/4" on each side.

You should do jag style switching

I'll have to look that up - I was going to go with 3 stacked pots, volume & tone per pickup, but I'll check it out.

Good writeup here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] "Master tone" is the "strangle" switch, I guess. I always wondered about the switches & rollers above the strings on Jags and Jazzmasters, they explain that, too (preset alternate tones for a "darker" rhythm tone on the guitars). Think I'll stick with concentrics.
