Mesa Bass Cabinet Choices

My favorite standalone Subway cab is the SW215, and my favorite multi-cab pairing is the SW115/SW210. That being said, there are many different flavors of great available within the Subway line, and YMMV. I do compare several different Subway cab options in my WD-800/SW215 review.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and advice. In the end I ended up adding the SW115 to my rig. I'm super stoked and in tone heaven. I did A/B the 2 210 and 115/210 at Prosound in Colorado Springs (thanks Rich!) and in the end with my low B flat tuning, 115/210 won. The sound is full and fat and deep and rich. Massive. Very happy. I had a jam with my band mate guitar player running a 100w half stack, and I cant be more pleased. (Drummer is out of town) I'll try and post a photo.

Now you see why I keep insisting that it's very much a personal preference based on your taste, music style, bass, pickups, strings, playing style, etc. Every player hears things differently.

It was obvious choice, once I A/B them. And my choice may have been different with another style, tuning, guitar. We don't always have that luxury in this modern order-by-internet age, to try out the gear we want. We have to support our local music stores (I know, not so easy).

I was very happy with my Revsound cabs (2x10 & 115) connected to a Mesa WD-800, but I had a little windfall that enabled me to pick up a Subway 2x12. It's been sitting quietly in my apartment for the past 6 weeks, but I took it to band practice Monday. One word "stunning!" For me I cannot imagine ever needing more or anything else. The Revsound cabs I will still continue to use, and since they are both 8 ohm, for giggles I might hook all 3 up. Andy, one wish? That the 2x12 was a tilt back like the 2x15. My 62 y/o back requires me to use a dolly.

I recently got a Mesa TT-800 amp head and have 3 cabs. A Mesa Subway 2x10, a fEarful 15/6, and a Ampeg SVT410HLF. All sound great, and staking the 2x10 on top of the 4x10 is really amazing. My conundrum is, that I feel I should trade the Ampeg 4x10 for another Subway cab. So if I stack another Subway cab with my 2x10, should I pair with a 1x15 or a second 2x10? I play heavy rock and metal, and blues rock. I play mostly 5 string and drop tune 1/2 step so it's low B flat frequencies. My main band is really loud running 2 100w guitar 1/2 stacks and pounding drums.

The subways are all voiced to work together. I'd get the 212 to pair with it.

Ergonomic thought, possibly a pull up handle like used on a roll-about suitcase? Just kidding, but maybe we start a poll to determine the average bass player height? I'm only 5'8" (and shrinking unfortunately)

I accept you've pretty much seen it all Andy. That cab rattles teeth, handles certainly would not stand a chance. It fits my dolly perfectly, secured by 2 bungee cords.

The amp head apparently did a little dance on top of the cab as well, it was turned at an angle when I was finished playing. I have a dense rubber pad cut to size to put under it next time.
