Mesa Boogie 400+

Sounds like a power tube issue.
Did you buy this amp NOS? Used? Did you get a "good price"? I ask b/c if the seller knew the tubes needed replacement ($200-$300 job) then that wasn't very cool.

Cheers guys!

£900 UK for the 400+ and a Boogie cab (1x15, 1x10, 2x6, and a horn, 4ohm)

Couldn't really run it up loud but sounded great at low volume. Its a fair bit of cash but have always wanted this amp for the alleged massive head room.

Wasn't till I ran it up later (master on 10! Pre on 6) that I realised I couldn't really get much out of it.

Also ran it up with an EBS 4x10.

Didn't even think to look at the loop blend so hope it's that.

Also is it right to have no audio when I have the rotary EQ knobs all on 0? Pre and power are up but nothing till I roll up the bass, mid, treb!? Is that normal?

Thanks for any and all help.

Have found a set of 12 matched tubes for £120 UK!

Thanks,

Robb.
