Just got a 400+ my firs tube amp.. Had two 4ohm cabs in the top jacks, than took one out, was playing with one 1516b for a month (which wasn't a problem with my big block 750). Didn't know anything about the ohms obviously, the guy who sold me the amp never told me anything, therefore I didn't think it would be a big deal to plug a 4 ohm cab into a 2 ohm jack.. Duh..
Now the amp is making a weird static noise when it vibrates, like when the bass drum kicks or when I slap low B, sometimes even on its own.. You can hear it clearly when I tap on it.. Is it the tubes that i ruined or a more serious problem?
Also to the 400+ owners, how do you know when to replace tubes?
Thanks...
