Mesa Boogie Subway series

I have been looking at the D-350, D-800 plus, WD-800, TT300, etc line. I really love the clarity in the lows and highs on the TT300 and 800 series, but cannot spend $1000 plus on an amp. The D-350 is in my price range ($500-ish) and has a few videos, but it seemed average. Is the 350 the same as the 800, but with less options?

I also plan on going to my local guitar center and playing any these the they have in stock, but wanted to also check with this forum as I am eager to wrap my head around this.

There are several whole threads on these amps. The short answer is the D350 is a lower power version of the D800 with a few minor control changes. Also the D350 is physically smaller, lighter weight, and has no fan. Both are excellent amplifiers.

All of the Subway series amplifiers are different in the character and features they provide, but all are equally excellent in quality.

I see the knobs and switches are the same on the D350 and D800, how do the controls vary?

Look for a used one of whatever model you're looking at. Talkbass clasiifeds should have some Subways.
D350's are now 799 new, so you might have found a used one if it was in the 500 range?

If you had used the search feature here, there are already tons of threads that go in depth on all the features and differences.

So you're in luck! The engineer who designed these amps is a TB member and regularly posts and answers questions about them. See @agedhorse for all your questions.

Some differences that haven't been mentioned:
The D-800 can drive a 2 ohm load, the D-350 minimum load is 4 ohms.
The D-800 has a cooling fan, the D-350 does not. It sheds its heat through its skin and through a vent.
The D-800 has a deep switch, the D-350 has a bright switch.
And obviously, the D-350 is smaller and lighter than the D-800.

I have both amps. I bought the D-800 a few months before I bought the D-350. I don't think I've used the D-800 since then. The D-350 is that good. (I don't plan on getting rid of my D-800, though.) If you look, sometimes you can find an open-box D-350 at one of the online stores. Save about $80 or so and still get the warrantee.

Subway D-350 is my choice.
I have a small quiet music room and the fact it does not have a fan is what puts it over the top besides having plenty of power for Med-large gigs.
Low adjust gets very thick if you're concerned about not having a low boost sw.
Yes it costs more than some other brands but look at the whole package.
Quality, customer service, warranty, resale value, etc.....

If you can get one at that price, especially if you don’t have to pay tax, you probably ought to buy it instead of waiting to try one at a GC (I’ve never seen any Mesa amps in stock at any GC near me).

The main differences are the ultra compact size and weight, it only takes a 4 Ohms minimum load of 2 Ohms like the Mesa 800 series heads, no fan, no deep switch, and of course, lower power output.
