Although that will do it, I think another excellent option is an 8 Ohm 112 and a 4 Ohm 115. This breaks the "don't mix cabs" rule, but will allow for 3 different rigs and when the 2 cabs are used together will provide reasonable balance of power per cone area.

Me-I'm happy with a 112 combo or the WA head on my fEarful/Arnopol Bassic 15, which is similar in output to the Scout 15 with less boom and no tweeter.

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!

There was a clean Walkabout at the local GC Seattle store for $500. I was going to buy it until I noticed a dead mint Walkabout on ebay listed under drum machines. So the auction closed this morning and I was outbid. I immediately tried to buy the one at GC only to find out it had just sold.

Boo hoo hoo . . .

I just received the WA I purchased.

Questions:
The back panel is bowed in as if it had been dropped on the speaker jacks. This bowing is not normal I presume?

The active input jack is black as opposed to the metallic passive input jack. I presume that this IS normal?

The speaker cab is completely silent regardless of which speaker output or input jack I use. Power is on. Gain and master volume are engaged. Is there anything else likely to cause complete silence?

I have no other head or speaker cab so am stuck until a friend gets home so that I can try this with his speaker cab.

Both input jack sockets should be the same. Silver iirc(mine's got the switch instead of 2 sockets).
Shouldn't be a dent in rear no :-/

You mean the amp's putting out NO sound? If so- Might be damaged where the dent is?? U are plugged into "speaker out" socket? Try another cab.
This shouldn't be your problem, but from when I've looked inside, they do look like they'd be easy to work on.

I did finally get a sound out of the combo by plugging from the speaker out of the WA into the active input of the TKO, but...

All I got was static until I had the gain and master volume on the WA up to 9 (o'clock). That seems way too high.

I'll let you know what happens when I can get my hands on another cab.

If it was damaged during shipping, it sounds like the tubes got some damage. VERY EASY to fix. Remove the cover and replace the two (I think there are two) 12ax7 tubes.
That's what happened to my Mesa. It fixed it, too.

You bought this from the Talkbass classifieds? Sounds like it may have been damaged in shipping to me- I wouldn't recommend plugging the speaker output of one amp into the input of another amp under any circumstances! If it were to start working you could potentially fry both amps.

I traded for an 800RB on TB and it had obviously taken quite a hit, loosening the transformer and causing a hum issue that I still haven't been able to resolve- seems to have occurred during shipping. Unfortunately shipping amps seems like a gamble and I'm unlikely to ever buy another over the net that doesn't come in its original factory foamed box! If I were you I would try to sum up whether the seller seems legit and if the amp was damaged before or during shipping, and return it if possible or at the very least get some compensation to have it looked at/fixed. A tube issue does seem like a promising and cheap possibility, though the bowed back panel could suggest a more involved issue. Also try the effects jack bypass trick since this sounds like an older unit which might not have had the FX Loop bypass switch- just run a patch cable between the Send and Return jacks and see if you get a signal...

OK, I got to friend's house and it seemed to operate properly through his 4x10 Marshall cab. I used a guitar to test it since it was a guitar cab. Here's some photos of the bowed back:

The output jacks on this are still mounted on a circuit board so I am concerned about any damage that may show up now or in the future. I couldn't do a full test at my friend's and will have to wait for my speaker to arrive.

I don't think this could have happened in shipping. Not only was there no damage to the box, but the fuse sticks out so far that the jacks would not be impacted in a drop.

I wouldn't rule it out- the box my 800RB came in also appeared undamaged, yet the arm holding one side of the transformer was bent and one of the bolts completely popped off! That said, it does seem unlikely now that you've shown the pictures. It probably would have had to be dropped on the edge of something else that was very hard.

I agree. Unless the seller told me in advance, the only way I'd keep it is if he agreed to pay shipping and repair charges for having the boys in Petaluma check it out.
