well, unless your stand lifts the amp/cab more than a foot off the ground, you will still have significant acoustic coupling. The cab does not necessarily need to be right on the ground to get coupling effects. Aside from personal experience, there have been several very detailed discussions about this effect. Another thought about this is that the best amp stand is another cab :smug:
- particularly when you are talking about the Walkabout. As yet another WA user has discovered in the post just above, the WA really shines when you get it pushing multiple drivers.

My regular rig these days is a Walkabout Head and 2 x 12 Bergantino AE's.

A question for my fellow Walkabout'ers.
Over the course of the past few gigs, I've noticed my WA rig go in and out of a weird distortion tonality. Sometimes it'll manifest itself in a sort of 'choked off/tinny' distorted sound. And at other times, it'll be full on loud but pop in and out of a 'Marshall-esque' distortion over the course of a few seconds. Anyone else experienced this symptom? I've had an old used Telefunken in V1 and the original Mesa Chinese in V2 for about 5 years now. Could it just be time to switch the tubes out?
Thanx for any insights you might be able to share!

My first official season using the Walkabout kicked off yesterday... just a little run around Virginia. Pulaski last night, a singer-songwriter job at a marina venue, a wedding reception at Trump Winery in Charlottesville this afternoon, (nice place - see pics) with a 4-piece power-grass band, then back home in Roanoke for a 5-8 bar gig with a cover/party band tomorrow evening.

Playing with 3 & 1/2 bands this Summer, it's gonna be a very busy couple months, but this amp totally handles everything I can throw at it. Right this minute, it's giving me a place to stretch out in the back of the bandwagon. :D

Sorry guys, just a question: has someone contacted Mesa about the letters that come off from black-faced ones?

Today I found some letters attached to gig bag "wings" so I think she is the guilty...
The master level you see (or... VASrEP) is what I used for this evening gig in medium-large square (obviously with PA support... :angel:)

I really don't need more watts with 2x212 GK MBE :bassist:

Last weekend, ran the WA through the NX2-212T
EQ mostly flat, with a slight cut around 100-150ish and slight bump just under 2k, gain noon, master only around 11
Did okay @ stage volume vs an old 212 Music Man combo and keys through a Roland 15
Most of the grind from a mod'd Sparkle Drive (plus a MP Blueberry at one point)
Gave this Zorn tune a run:

Why not give MESA a phone call to see what they'll do? All of their gear includes a 5 year transferrable warranty. I'd think that'd include the oh-so-necessary chassis labeling.

Is not so simple: I live in Italy. :unsure:
Ship and re-ship takes too long and is too expensive...
I am almost sure Italian dealer can do anything.
Moreover here anything related to Mesa takes very long time.
When I called italian dealer to order my gigbag, they told me: "(...) like every order to Mesa it will take about 24 weeks (...)".
(so I take this opportunity to thanks again BillyB_from_LZ :thumbsup:)

If you bought it locally they should be covering that under warranty. Us foreigners pay exorbitant markups for a reason!

God Bless Caterers...

A very thoughtful and resourceful one rescued my WalkAbout from a sudden, violent thunderstorm with a giant plastic bag. I had run to get the bass out of the rain, when I came running back to grab my amp, (half expecting to see smoke) she had carefully covered and tucked my whole rig.

Very, very cool.
