well, unless your stand lifts the amp/cab more than a foot off the ground, you will still have significant acoustic coupling. The cab does not necessarily need to be right on the ground to get coupling effects. Aside from personal experience, there have been several very detailed discussions about this effect. Another thought about this is that the best amp stand is another cabYes. Other than losing enhanced bass response from the coupling effect of having the speaker close to the floor, it still sounds like a walkabout. I prefer an amp stand with the speaker angled towards my head.
