Hey guys! A few weeks ago my scout started cutting out during a gig. I replaced all the cords figuring a bad cable..same problem. I did a search here and found out about the fx loop issue but my walkabout has an fx bypass and even with that engaged i still have the same problems. It happens at totally random times. Sometimes ill play is for hours with no problem....Sometimes it starts cutting out immediately. weird. I had a friend take a look at it and said everything seemed to be in working order. Thanks for any help or ideas!

Mesa Boogie walkabout scout problem

I had one problem with my Walkabout Scout. The bass would drop right out leaving only a lot of top end, but it was intermittent and hard to find the source of when playing a gig. I took it home and set it up and traced it down to a dirty bass pot. It was a simple fix with contact cleaner. Hasn't re-occurred since. Check all your controls, particularly the volume ones by jiggling them a bit when it cuts out. If it's not that, take it to a tech.
even with the FX loop bypass switch, you could try the trick with the FX loop where, with the amp OFF, you put some contact cleaner on a male 1/4" plug and insert it, in/out, several times into both in the send and return jacks to clean any possible oxidization that may be there.
Also, I have had a minor, but irritating issue with my power plug twice coming slightly loose from it's socket. It's a std PC type plug on the amp and it appears that over time, if you leave the plug in all the time, the socket apparently gets a little loose. This can cause a "mysterious" shut down. I fixed this on mine by wrapping one turn of electrical tape around the barrel of the female plug end. Stays in no matter what now.

I've owned my Walkabout for about six years. It's a great little powerful amp. The only problem that I've ever had with it was the input jacks. It sounds like you might have the same problem. This has been such a big problem they actually have a free upgrade for these jacks.
This is causing me worry, though I've got no problems so far. Please tell what you find, in the end, so we can all avoid this terrifying expirience.
