Mesa convert

I too am a Mesa convert... played Genz Benz for years and I still have my Contour stack, but I sold my Genz 750 Bergantino 6X10 rig for a Mesa 212 carbine6 combo and it is my main rig now

I had never owned or played any Mesa gear before. Recently got a Prodigy and the traditional ph610 and have only 2 practices with them so still getting a feel for them. Quite a bit different than my svt-vr. A lot more mid presence but a little less punch. If that makes any sense. I just need to spend more time getting used to the Mesa but I think the 610 would sound good with a lot of different heads. I need to try my Streamliner with it.

What cab do you run your VR with usually? I was gonna ask you to post a pic but I see you did already, nice!

I'd love to compare the new sealed 610 to the older ported PH610 and hope my dealer orders more then the 115 they have in right now. I love the PH610 but don't use excessive low end and I feel I don't really need the cab porting for the tone I'm looking for. My main issue with the Ampeg 810e is the tolex wear and handle placement. If the traditional 610 gets a similar tone then I'd much rather get the build quality of Mesa over Ampeg any day.

Here's a picture of my rig.

Nice!

I run my VR into a 810e. As far as comparing the two cabs sound wise I really need to sit down and do a good shootout. Haven't had time to do so but I don't think there is huge differences. I agree about the tolex on the 810e sux. Mine has nicks and tears all over and I'm carefull with it when taking it to gigs, although I don't have a cover. The Mesa cab seems to be way better quality. It even has handles on the bottom and came with a nice padded cover. I've always preferred the tightness of a sealed cab so when I heard about the traditional series it really got my interest. Couldn't find any reviews on them so I tried this one in a store and had a weak moment.
