Mesa D800+ Limit Light on more than it should.

Does anyone have a good rule of thumb on the HPF knob? I’m running a stingray through a WD800 and a 1x15 (or 4x10, depending on the rehearsal space). It’s usually R&B stuff, without loud rock guitars, but I still hit the yellow lights when things get loud.

I feel like I could get better performance from this amp with a few knob turns, and I run stuff mostly flat. I’ve never honestly understood what the camping knob does

Start with the HPF fully counter-clockwise and rotate it clockwise until you loose any low end muddiness and achieve the desired result. Most players find around the 9:00-10:00 position to be about right.

I don’t have your amp, but I do have amps with HPFs as well as stomp box HPF. With all of them I start with the filter at the lowest freq setting (around 30 hz on mine), then increase it until my lowest string (E or B depending) starts to lose some volume and heft. Then I back off just a hair. I do this on every single gig, because each room is going to sound different.
