Hey guys. I have got myself a Mesa Boogie M9 Carbine head (900 watts) and am thinking of cabinets. The first, which i posted a thread about before, is the 4x12. Still one I am strongly considering but just recently I have been thinking about bi-amp set ups.
I have been looking at the Mesa 2x10 and 1x15 and and was wandering would it be better to go with the bi-amp set up or just buy the big 1200 watt cab? Also is the 2x10 combined with the 1x15 a good combination? any mesa combinations that would be better?
Any advice and help would be appreaciated. Cheers.

i don't like non-matching cabs because of possible phase response problems. and with that amount of wattage, i see no point in throttling two little cabs, so i'd say go for the big stuff.

That amp needs big cabs to be used. If you're thinking of a 210x2 or 115x2 setup, get the M6 where you can run it more wide open.
But if you're stuck on the M9, IMO get that big cab, or a modular setup of 212x2 (Like I have) or 410x2. I had the PH412 for about a year, and am really glad I went w/ the modular approach now, especially since I'm not doing 3-4 hour cover gigs anymore and if it's a smaller venue I can just bring one for quicker/easier load-in/load-out.

Also, that amp cannot "bi-amp".

Plz tell us exactly how you are planning to bi-amp with the M9? :rolleyes:

IMO (and I suppose agreeing with others here) I would say go for a 4x12 or 8x10. But you could also go for the 6x10, 1200, or 2x15 if you want something a little smaller and lighter. Of course each has a different sound. I myself have a Mesa PowerHouse 6x10 and it sounds awesome believe me, but I am powering mine with a Peavey Tour 450 not a M9 like you have.

I own an M9 and PH412 setup and it is the bomb! But I also have a PH410 (8 ohm) and the Carbine is just wonderful running at 8 ohms with that single cab. Tons of power and a very good match. The OP may want to consider a pair of 410's or a pair of 212's if the 412 or 810 is too much cab to deal with. Going modular is more expensive but can be a lot nicer if you only need a medium size cab for some of your gigs.

I have the PH2x10 and the PH4x10, sometimes together or separate, depends on the gig or band I play with, or in the same band but rehearsal and using only! the 2x10 with the M9 and still rules!
Check out I have some video cam shots on youtube, but the video not gives you back that sound. I think just pick up what best works for your needs. I am also GASing for a PH2x12.
Last week I had a gig with only the 2x10, and sound was beautifull, but also we used inear monitoring.
