Mesa Subway 115 vs Traynor TC115 NEO

Didn't notice that lol
RMS vs Program probably
The 800 watt number on the back of the driver means nothing, our published ratings are what matter. We are more conservative in our ratings.

Yep - we literally get ripped off on everything
$1199 USD x approx 1.35 CAD exchange rate = $1620
I guess it's a good thing you get paid in CAD, right?

I never understood the exchange rate hangups around this kind of thing. The psychology of it is very interesting. I've done business internationally in several different roles, and when you're dealing with inventory and cost fluctuations, it's quite valid. Otherwise... I think it's very much a mindset thing.

Cool comparo! I worked at Yorkville in the US office when the ceramic version of that launched, and thought they were really good for the size and price. I gigged a bunch with one underneath the 2x8 tiltback combo (tilted back) and it was excellent.

I guess. I just went on the Mesa website and checked. Usually, they're pretty open with their specs and descriptions. But, I guess not with that one?

Trying to think of a company that lists exactly what model speaker they use on their website....

Aguilar:
Featuring neodymium drivers and custom crossovers,

Bergantino:
NXT Neodymium Magnet Woofers

Markbass:
Markbass Neodymium custom speakers

Fender:
Eminence® speakers (Chinese? USA? No mention.)

Ampeg:
Eminence drivers and a selectable compression driver. (See above)

Darkglass:
loaded with custom-made Eminence® Neodymium drivers

Trace Elliot:
  • One ultra high end 12 coaxial driver paired with its 12 woofer-only complement

Most, list exactly what they are. "Custom Eminence" "custom celestion" "ampeg rocket 10" "fender rumble 10" "ashdown blueline 15" "ashdown whiteline 10" etc

Seeing as how just about every bass speaker is made specifically for that box, those are very exact model descriptions.

Our published ratings are clear and accurate.

We provide both mechanical and thermal power ratings, we don't base our ratings on program or peak power marketing numbers.

The driver is a custom part number from Faital, based on the 15PR400 platform. We have used this driver since 2015.
Alright. Just threw me for a loop. When I seen mesa subway speaker on the spec list, I figured you guys made those in house. And, that one was not. I thought someone had swapped the speaker out on his cab

So how is this different? None of those mention a speaker model. 'Fender Rumble 10' is not a speaker model. 'Custom Eminence' is not a speaker model.

Mesa has never made speakers. In fact I think GK is the only amp company I know of that makes their own woofers, and they just seem to be Eminence parts.

They are. Those are only produced for those specific cabs, by the companies listed. They don't produce and sell those speakers otherwise.

Listing fender rumble 10 as the speaker model for the in house speaker that is made for that cabinet, is an exact model.

Listing a Faital speaker as a Mesa speaker, is incorrect. They apparently don't make the speakers in the subway line. Faital does.

I didn't know that. I thought they were made in house. So in turn, I thought that someone had replaced the speaker in his cabinet.

Peavey

Fender

Ampeg

Ashdown

Bugera

Hartke

All those amp companies, make speakers.

Try again. None of those make their own speakers. Peavey may make some speakers, but not for what we are discussing here. Up until Peavey went full China, they used Eminence speakers.

Bugera uses Turbosound speakers which is owned by the same parent company but they are not Bugera speakers. Behringer uses the same speakers because like Bugera, they are owned by the same company.

Ampeg and Fender say right on their website that they use Eminence speakers.

Ashdown uses speakers from an overseas manufacturer.

Hartke used to be made by Eminence, but I think they have also gone overseas.

So I'll ask again..how is this different? You can't go buy that Faital speaker beacuse it's custom made for Mesa.

Just like you can't go to to Parts Express and buy a 'Fender Rumble 10' speaker because that does not exist.

And another nope...Faital does NOT make all the speakers for the Subway line.

Or, did at least
No sir, none of these companies (with the exception of a couple of Peavey models and some Bugera models) make their own speakers.

I have used custom Faital and Eminence (and a few other) speakers in a variety of products I designed over the last 30+ years. Nothing has changed, I still use them and that part number is a custom Mesa part number.

If you are going to make accusations, would you please at least get the information you post correct?

Well, you're wrong.

Bugera was a speaker company. They made speakers. And nothing more. I had three cabs loaded with them. All behringer cabinets used to be loaded with them. Bass and guitar. After making a good deal of money with behringer, They decided to start making amplifiers as well. Turbosound didn't happen until music group bought them as well.

Ampeg makes thier own speakers. They also have EBS, Celestion, and Eminence make speakers for models as well. They don't just use Eminence speakers. It says so on their product listings. Just the "good ones" are either Eminence or celestion.

Fender does the same. They own half of everything, you don't think they own a speaker company or two?

You can watch workers making Peavey speakers on several videos.

Show me an aluminum hartke bass speaker that says Eminence. I've never seen them ever make one.

Ashdown makes them. Then, they paint them with Kevlar to stiffen them up. Well, they did. Now they do use Chinese speakers. They then paint them.

And, I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'm just saying I misunderstood the posted specs. I thought they were made in house, and that someone had swapped the speaker on the cabinet. Because the site says it's a Mesa speaker, but it's apparently not. They should probably re-write the spec to say "custom faital speaker" under the Speakers and Mounting tab.

But, whatever dude. I'm done.
