This is the obvious solution but I REALLY don’t want to. And I’m just having a tough time accepting that this amp can’t handle this. Maybe my expectations are just not realistic.

I think that for the music style and volume you are looking for, it simply may not be enough rig for the gig. If this is the case, I really hope you are using some form of hearing protection...

Ok, the amp's not necessarily clipping because there is output tube emulation circuitry operating when this LED is lit, but in general this LED should not be on more than 25% of the time when you are playing. 40% might be ok at 8 ohms, but note that the amp can deliver greater than it's rated power under these conditions so you want to be sure your speakers are (really) rated to handle this.

I'm sure you are probably super tired of answer questions about these two indicators, but please indulge me for a moment. I'm a coward and when I see lights flash on an amp in my head that means "danger."

BOTH the "OD" indicator gear the gain AND the "Limiter" indicator have some form of tube clipping emulation associated with them?
So would the OD be viewed as pushing the preamp tubes, and the Limiter as pushing the power tubes?
And BOTH have the a 25% guideline?

Yes, both preamp and power amp emulation.

Pushing the preamp O/D into the 50% on and 50% off territory is fine, but for the output emulation would be more than I would suggest is ok. Also, at this point, the amp is delivering well over rated power and I would caution that your speakers might also struggle with this kind of operation too.
