Thank you for that. Ms. NdegéOcello is perennially funky and artistic, and a bone bada** bassist. I'm not sure about the latched string ensemble thing, but... you know.
In the unlikely event that any reader here is unfamiliar with the original of Atomic Dog:
She’s got such control and mastery of her sound. The way she’s constantly moving her right hand for sound is awesome. Then add her time and space control, she’s a special player!
she is one of the true master teachers out there. her groove and playing and sense of time is so original, she is just so unique. what a great interpretation of this song

It is a gift to see Meshell play her Jazz Bass again. It is good to get a glimpse of the player who listened to for four years straight in the 1990’s. When she wants be, Meshell Ne’Degeocello is the funkiest bassist alive.
I have Meshell’s latest album on iTunes. I was quite underwhelmed by most of what I heard. Live, her take on Atomic Dog is funky and trance like. I love it!
She's probably my favourite bassist on the planet, but I really haven't been interested in much of what she's done since Comfort Woman. Regardless, I have full respect for her going where the music leads her - and I'll catch her live whenever I can.
