Double Bass Messiest Office/Studio/Practice Room Contest

And just in case there are any other slackers out there who think they can compete with me for the messiest office, here is my latest evidence. I rest my case.

I don't expect I can win either the messiest or cleanest study, but here goes. Now that I think about it, I don't really know why I have it setup this way. It's grown organically from wanting to be able to reach the piano while standing with the bass but recently I've been using the stool, so....

But, you can see from the pics what I meant when I wrote that it's a "corner-less room". With those 12-foot sliders at each end, there's only about a foot of wall next to each window.

This room has been cleansed of all Joy...it is now merely a Vacuum, after being vacuumed.
Sad...

A man who truly understands where I find joy.
Show me a man with a can of WD-40 on his desk, and I'll show you a man who "makes things happen...".

WOW. Good eyes, Don. Thanks! I was wondering where I had put that.

View attachment 3847457 Clutter? I’ve made it a lifelong pursuit.
Finally, an actual competitor.

“Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.”

P.S. As a newly minted DB owner I can now post here guilt free. I waited several days to respond and included an obscure quote to appear deliberate and pensive.

YES! Now that's what I'm talkin' about.

I just reviewed this whole thread. What a Joy!

And this thread is a great reminder too...

Like many, I haven't had my DB out of the house for almost 8 weeks now. That's a long time in pile accumulation... I'm going to be playing DB for a long-weekend Jam Camp next month if it doesn't get cancelled. I'll have to be able to get my double bass out of the house, which is going to require some excavation. Hmmm, hallways are the next frontier, where no man has gone before...

Hey Rick, taking up your challenge of May 20, "Anything you can do I can do worser" (misquote). After a big re-construct my new kitchen and bathroom/laundry are going in. Since May 6 my "kitchen" has been under the stairs in my lounge room, I have View attachment 4047034 View attachment 4047036 View attachment 4047037 only had one recent gig and my teaching has been elsewhere View attachment 4047018
Well played Mr Potts! You are even putting clutter on and under your bass!

I will not comment on this week's events lest I destroy US/Australian relations, but what a week ! The great news of the day is that a US company has announced a 90% success rate with tests of its vaccine, but this will take a considerable time to twice innoculate our populations

I hope that you go with Joe Biden's plea to wear face masks. Our southern state, Victoria, has gone down from 700 new second wave cases/Day to Zero for nearly two weeks running by taking some severe steps, including lock-downs, border closures, 14 day quarantining, massive community testing and contact tracing. Here in NSW we are down to a few locally transmitted cases that are jumped on straight away. Queensland, up north, has closed its borders to other states for ages which has had a devastating economic effect on tourism. However, it was a tourist ship, the Ruby Princess debacle, that knowingly discharged a heap of infected passengers that started our whole endemic here in NSW.

Over and over the message is social distancing (1.5 metres), cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer, do not touch your face or mouth, get tested if you show signs of a cold or flu (chest infections) and self-isolate while waiting for the results. This has worked and worked well here but the virus is still showing up in tests of sewerage.

Best wishes and stay safe.

David, very happy to hear about your Aussie success against the virus. Hopefully we can start following that path soon here in the states now that scientists will be listened to again.

I was thrilled as well to hear about the great success of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine. I have renewed my decision to hold off any gigs until I have been vaccinated.

All the best,

Rick

PS My office/studio is STILL a mess. I may try to get to that soon (but don't hold your breathe).
