Double Bass Messina Gig Bags

After stalling for several years, I finally broke down and bought a new gig bag for my bass. I'd shopped quite a few makers but ultimately settled on a bag by Messina.

I am extremely satisfied with the purchase. The bag is very well built. The padding is thick but not so thick the bag is hard to handle when empty.

My bass' dimensions didn't exactly fit any of the half dozen or so standard sizes they offer, so I sent my measurements via email and had one made to my specs. It fits like a glove. Total time from order to receipt was about 10 days for this custom bag.

Mine turned out to be a standard 3/4 and I couldn't ask for a better fit. It's a fantastic bag. Like the red!

I'm not sure why they don't have prices either (maybe doesn't update the website too often?) but they are prompt replying to email or web inquiries.

I had a custom bag done for $470 + $35 shipping back in August 2016. A standard bag is $395 + shipping (so $75 for customization). It is truly custom-made from tracings. You choose color(s), embroidery, pocket sizes/locations. I imagine you could specify handle locations, too. Well worth it.

Still like the bag? Is the material inside gentle enough for the bass? How is the bridge padding? It doesn't look like there is any extra in the photos I've seen. Thanks.

I liked it well enough that I now miss it. I sold that bass and will order one for the bass i now own.
