Metal band with no Low End

Metal guitar player step all over the bass' sonic area these days anyway. Bass isn't necessary in metal anymore, it's just a spot on the stage.

Yeah, as alluded to earlier about the 7 or 8-string guitars, there's not a whole lot of room for bass in a lot of metal.

Maybe that's why don't listen to much metal anymore.

Meshuggah almost did the opposite, 3 basses and not guitars. Then they got custom Ibanez 8 strings. .......

Thesseling got some pretty cool results by going for a 7 string bass (low F#) when he was recording with a group using 8 stringers.

Also, how would you hear a low F#?

I'd think most commercial stereo systems couldn't reproduce something that low very well.

All that said, it does sound like a cool concept.

Jeroen Paul Thesseling. He did it with Pestilence. It's not something you can really hear well. It reminds me of upright bass in that you feel it more than you hear it.

Actually Warwick just posted a video of him with the bass, playing some micro-tonal stuff.
