Metallica and Pantera in Detroit

Ended up on the rail to see Rex, Rob and the boys last night! My son and i were actually right by where Robert's tech's setup was, so we got to see Zach setting up and tuning all his basses during Wolfie's set and then had an up close view of him whenever he came down for a break/drink/snack between songs.
Rex was also sounding and looking great. Was really impressed with their set.
Here's my good pics and some of the behind the scenes stuff.

My home renovation contractor and his wife went to that concert. Did you see a really tall, somewhat heavy white guy that looks like Lurch there?
Unless they had the Frantic Enhanced Experience package and were either in line by us or ended up near the corner where Lars finished the evening, I doubt i saw him. But as mentioned, there were plenty of people who fit that description there!

At a Metallica/Pantera show - there were probably 10,000 guys that fit that description!

They all looked like Lurch? :roflmao:

Great photos and some great 80's/90's nostalgia! It's hard to believe both of those bands are still performing. I saw 'em both in the early 90's and they were amazing performers. But if you'd asked me if their lifestyle was sustainable? I wouldn't have bet they'd still be capable 30 years later.

Killer shots! I don't know how hard Rob partied or parties, but I know at least that Rex boozed pretty hard back in the day, so what a relief to see that they have both aged well and seem to really have it together for these shows. James's vocals seem his best in thirty years from what I've heard in recent clips; I didn't have a ton of interest in seeing Metallica live in his quarter-century "yeah! yeaheaheaeaeahahahaeah!" phase, but now that he has finally reined that in, I wish I could afford to see them at these shows!

nice! How was the bass in Metallica's mix? could you hear it good? I saw Tool recently and honestly, the boominess of the low toms and kick drum sometimes overwhelmed the entire mix
