Metallica @ Lane Stadium; 5/7/25

For those of you who don't follow collegiate sports, Virginia Tech started using Metallica's "Enter Sandman" 25 years ago now, to get the team and their fans pumped up before games.

It's kinda' turned into a big thing over the years, and finally got the attention and I guess approval of the band some years later...

Whatever inner workings conspired to make it happen, and Metallica added Lane Stadium, home field of the Virginia Tech Hokies, to the M72 Tour. Waiting in the Stadium, head coach Brent Pry presented each member of the band with a team jersey... pretty cool.


The concert actually registered on the Richter scale.

And to finish the night out, the Hokie Nation was treated to a live play of their adopted fight song-

Yep, also Pantera. My take is that this was an added stop on the current tour. It's obviously been planned for a while though... the logistics of putting on a show like this are mind-boggling.

I was there and it was amazing! I’ve been to countless big concerts and sporting events and I’ve experienced nothing like the energy and noise coming from a crowd to the extent of during Enter Sandman. Absolutely unreal!
